9 minutes to go in Villanova / UConn game and Villanova just committed their 3rd turnover.   Wow.  Impressive.  That is taking care of the ball

Such a important stat.  They don't beat themselves and they know how to control tempo.  All of there guys have excellent footwork and overall fundamentals.  It's noticeable that we have struggled in these areas for some time.

Transitive property in full effect, let's go Nova!!!

Nova is so good

Every damn year.  Can we get a point guard like Gillespie?  This team is always in control.  They don't turn it over and rarely miss a free throw.  The Cats are a joy to watch.  MU's biggest accomplishment this season is pulling off the Nova sweep.

Nova should have fouled Sanogo there.

This Nova team is somewhat smoke and mirrors.  Play slow but don't do anything poorly.  Simply sound.  Jay knows his teams now.  He'd be a real good NBA coach

People shouldn't forget that.  This MU team has talent.  The good thing is we will have a blank slate Thurs/Fri but it's extremely disappointing that things kind of went off the rails.

Jay Wright is classy

He recruited Collin Gillespie, a three star prospect, and helped turn him into a two time BE player of the year.  Jay Wright is truly remarkable.

I'm not sure half of the Nova players under him that made the NBA would have without his coaching.

Anybody who says they don't care how Marquette does in the BE tourney is crazy.  I hate the fact that we rarely make it to the Friday nite games.

It does suck.  Hopefully we get lucky with a decent draw as a 10 seed.

Why can't we get Kalkbrenner and Gillespie? Maybe we could just get Sanogo, Freeman-Liberty, Champagnie, and keep Lewis while we're at it?

Boy is Hurley annoying.

He deserves to get T'd up about 25 times a game. I give the refs credit for restraint.

I think this is more Jay Wright as an excellent evaluator of talent than a miracle worker.  Gillespie was a late bloomer.  He was Philly POY his senior year, not like he was some mediocre prospect turned into a gem.

Again, I'm a big Wright fan, but this is hyperbole.

Jalen Brunson was arguably the top PG in his class.

Arci I was a top 50 recruit even after missing his entire senior year and was All-Rookie in the BE

Bridges, Hart, and Saddiq Bey were top 80 recruits

JRE was a McDonald's AA

Again, Wright has an amazing eye for talent and fitting players into his team and knowing what his team has.  I honestly think Marquette has more NBA alums over the last 10-15 years that developed that make you go "how the hell did he end up there" aka Bucyks, Juan, etc than Nova

Did you see that one reaction  where he screamed "that's effin bcrap", looked like he was going to tackle the ref like a middle linebacker, and had to be restrained by one of his assistants?  I don't mind coaches working refs or even a demonstrative reaction occasionally.  When you do it 25 times a game and run onto the court like an assclown?  That's totally ridiculous.

.I don't think most #50 or higher players make it to the NBA.  Brunson was an exception for sure among his recruits.  But if you go down the list I don't think most of his guys were on the NBA radar until at least one year under Wright.  Spellman is another exception as his best recruit and he didn't make it.

I was so glad that Nova won after being surrounded by way over the top UCONN fans. There were thousands of Hurley's at the MSG. Seton Hall fans are no match for them. Every single foul, block, rebound,  anything and everything set them off. I neither have nor need statistics to confidently state that Storrs Connecticut has more proctologists per capita than any other locality in the country.

Tonight's game fascinates me.  Creighton is playing with tons of confidence and Nova is the best run program in the nation.  Probably recency bias, but this feels like the best Big East final in awhile.

I liked Lewis at the 5 against certain lineups, gives MU an edge since both centers brings zero skill on the O side. Should have done that more with Joplin and Omax at the forwards during the year. Neither center really rebounds are all.

It's amazing how Nova always finds a way to defend and board with often nobody out there over 6'7".

100% agree. This is in line with the disappointing reality that we were supposed to be one of the pillars of the revamped BE and haven't come close to carrying our weight. Mostly optimistic but not convinced yet that better days are ahead.
