I feel like I've watch every BE game my soul could tolerate and I have no idea who the best player in the conference is.

Does anyone know?

I'd start a poll if I knew how, but I still don't think I could figure out the top 5?

I'll assume Justin gets 1st team All BE, along with Gillespie and Cole. Do Sanogo and Rhoden round it out, does Nate Watson slide in?

I'd also assume Freeman-liberty (22ppg!) and champagnie land on the 2nd team despite much more gaudi stats.

Very odd year in the BE when it comes to individual awards, a ton of balance teams without a lot of star power.

Top 4:
Gillespie
Cole
Kalkbrenner
Moore

Outside shots:
Freeman-Liberty
Nunge
Alexander
Lewis

And yes, I realize not a single PC player is on there.  They've been an amazing (but apparently lucky) team.

DoctorV

Don't think that's right

Pretty sure it'll be Gillespie. Best player on the clear best team. Justin should be first team.

We R Final Four

It will be Gillespie.

Eye

Agree with Brew. I'd say Gillespie with JFL on the 1st team.

Agree that Gillespie will win. Lewis would have won it had MU finished closer to the top I think. Still a fantastic jump from his freshman to his sophomore season. It gives me hope for some of the other guys to improve in the off season.

Agreed Dr. V.  Would you slot Kalbrenner ahead of Nate Watson?

Kenpom's BE All-Conference as of this morning:

1 - Gillespie
2 - Moore
3 - Lewis
4 - Sanogo
5 - Rhoden

Kalkbrenner doesn't belong on the BEPOY list/conversation.

Nate Watson is the best player on the conference champion, he's ahead of Kalky.
Wouldn't be surprised if he bumped Moore off the first team.

I'd be very surprised if Justin Lewis wasn't on the first team as well.

I'll go with
Gillespie
Cole
Lewis
Rhoden
Sanogo
Watson

2nd team of
Moore
Freeman-Liberty
Champagnie
Alexander
Hawkins
Bynum

Morsell is pretty close to that 2nd team imo

Watson is pretty far down the Value Add list (filter for BE, #17)
https://www.valueaddbasketball.com/

Is 18 on the Torvik scale:
https://www.barttorvik.com/conf.php?conf=BE&year=2022

Though 7th on kenpom (filter for BE)
https://kenpom.com/playerstats.php?s=eFG&y=2022&f=BE

Kalkbrenner is 6th, 4th, and 1st on those rankings.

6 made it

Thanks for this. Congrats to JL, very deserving. And Gillespie's deserving of POY; in addition to posting good stats, he controls the best team in the conference (or second-best if you buy The Provi as best team, which few with eyes do).

Should be a shoo-in for Freshman of the year!

If he stays another season, he can win that award a year from now.

Oh, and congrats to the Big East for classifying Lewis as a sophomore.

And classifying Rhoden as classless! Great list!!

DoctorV

So I got them all except Champagnie over Watson on the first team

That one really surprises me tbh, I thought Moore had a Moore legitimate chance.

Also didn't know the 2nd team only had 5 guys, with Posh being off and as an honorable mention.

Yes, congrats to Kam!

TAMU, Knower of Ball

Butler unrepresented. Xavier only gets Nunge on there as an honorable mention. Georgetown only makes the all freshman team (formerly known as the DePaul special).

I'm impressed with McDermott. He has a second teamer, an honorable mention, and half of the freshman team. Cooley will get COY but McD did a really good job as well.
