Yes, there's a Marquette Circles event in NYC tomorrow night.   On-Line registration closed last night but you can show up at the door and register and pay there, so as long as you don't feel like an outcast for not having a pre-printed name tag and having to hand write one, go for it.   Porky will be in the house.  Details below:

https://alumni.marquette.edu/circles

On another note, if you can sore tickets to Plaza Suite with Ferris Bueller and SJP GO!  Porky and the wife went last week and it was very entertaining.  We originally had tix for when it was supposed to open in March of 2020, but it kept getting postponed and we finally were able to go last Thursday.

Porky highly recommends the bar at Keens Chophouse, less than a 10 min walk from MSG.  The restaurant there is one of NYC's great classic steakhouses, but the bar there in particular has a ton of character and one the best if not the best single malt selections in the city.  You can get a pour of some 150 Yr Old Scotch for $175 or something if you're up for it.   The restaurant is great too of course and known for the lamb chop but given the cost of high quality meat these days, you might want to skip the main dining room especially if you're coming from the midwest and had pay for flight and accommodations.  They do have a pub room just off the bar with some more modest menu options like burgers and prime rib hash and the like.   Well worth checking out the bar and pub menu, and again less than 10 min walk from MSG on 36th St just east of 6th Ave.  Basically 36th and 6th.

Feel free to DM Porky if anyone has any other NYC questions.

I certainly hope your nametag is "Porky's Butthole"

Wow...here's a real example of how the teams in the BET affect ticket prices (and probably to a lesser extent time). Current prices:

Session 2 (Providence, Butler/Xavier, Marquette, Creighton) - cheapest ticket on Ticketmaster is $44 and lots of tickets under $100
Session 3 (Villanova St. John's/DePaul, UCONN, Georgetown/Seton Hall) - cheapest ticket on Ticketmaster is $150

Yet another reason that I'm happy that Marquette finished in as No. 5.

Porky didn't think about that before registering under Porky's real name, but it would have been cool to put a.k.a. Porky's Butthole.  That would be a helluva an icebreaker.

UConn is the difference.

I have no doubt that's a huge part of it, but on one side you've got:

Session 2 - Providence (183 miles), Cinci (640)/Indy (715), Milwaukee (882), and Omaha (1245)

On the other side you've likely got:

Session 3 - Philly (106), Queens (12), Storrs (136), and West Orange (18)

That third session is pretty much the perfect storm to drive the highest early session ticket value at the BET. And the second session is nearly the opposite.

Flying into LaGuardia & ubering to hotel. Flying out of Newark.

Coming from the Westin Times Square, do I just walk to 42nd st & port authority terminal, hop on a train.. then quick AirTran rude after the train? How should I buy tickets? Mobile app?

My wife and I head up to NYC on Amtrack early tomorrow and arrive mid to late afternoon. Probably will be there in time for the 4:30 game or most of it. Really looking forward to this trip! It will be our first chance to see this team in a game rather than on TV. I'll be wearing my Marquette scarf and probably be flagging down other Marquette fans to chat for a minute or two.

you want to go to Penn Station, not Port Authority.  At least that's how I've always done it.

Until today, was planning on Penn Station, but ....
42nd & port is closer & it *appears* I can catch it there too

Maybe Penn Station is the better play tho

I've never actually been in that port authority building but I think it is for busses.

If you are boarding a bus on a trip to MSG from times square, something just went horribly wrong.

Walk to the 42nd St/Times Square Station and take the A,C,E,1,2, or 3 train (heading downtown) to 34th St/Penn Station.  It's actually the next stop and maybe two minutes, so be ready to exit.

There are vending machines in every station where you can buy your card before you get on.

Is there a good burger joint near the garden?

https://www.keens.com/pub/   W. 36th St.

https://www.blackironburger.com/  W. 38th St.

https://www.burgerandlobster.com/locations/new-york/flatiron/   W. 19th St in Flatiron.  or W. 43rd St near Bryant Park

Burger and Lobster is further away from the MSG than the other two, but not prohibitively so.  20-25 min walk to Garden or 10 min cab ride if no traffic from flatiron location.  15 min walk to MSG from W. 43rd Location.   Flatiron Location is nicer IPHO but food the same at both.

One other place worth mentioning below if staying nearby hidden behind the curtain in the lobby of the Parker Meridien Hotel on W. 57th St between 6th & 7th Ave.  It's not near MSG, but since there are so many hotels in that area and some folks might be staying there or nearby, it's worth mentioning since it's Porky's favorite Burger place in Manhattan.  Despite it's location in a fancy hotel, the place is a total dive and not even a restaurant.  It has no wait service they just call your number and you sit anywhere, but it's great.  Maybe not for pre-game dinner but good lunch spot if you're staying at the Parker Meridien or another hotel nearby.

My daughter got engaged at the Parker Meridian, plus my son in law basically mentioned the same places, thanks!

We had dinner at a little Korean place about 5-10 minutes from the Garden - Her Name Is Han. It was outstanding. I'd highly recommended it.
