Wesley Matthew’s Film Session was huge.
Wonder if Wesley talked with Dante Divo after the Bucks game and Marquette win tonight. Remember being at the Marquette Villanova game Wesley’s Senior Year and Marquette winning to pretty much clinch a Big Dance Berth. Remember Wesley walking off the court celebrating and relieved. Wesley said he was relieved after that Win. Go Marquette!

Note that MU's first possession and last possession were both broken plays ending in a JLew 3 to give the good guys the lead. Symmetry.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Just re-watched the final 9 minutes and noticed a couple small things:

1. No band
2. Very little energy from the crowd. Only time they got a little loud was on our final possession.
3. Lewis was so calm after he hit the game winning 3, just a little head nod to the bench. Same after the buzzer sounded. A chest bump or 2, then ran over to shake hands with Jay and team.

The on-campus place seems to be a wine and cheese crowd, compared to games at Wells Fargo. Tony Smith did say in the postgame when Villanova went on a 12-0 that the place was super load. So, maybe TV blocks some of the sound.

That last MU possession was interesting. Nova had two fouls to give and played that handoff hard. I think that both Kolek and Lewis were fouled, and a James Breeding would have whistled those and had a two minute free time out video review to see if it was a F1 or not. I am being a bit facetious, but I am a big fan of letting the players decide the game there. JLew steadied himself out of the scrum and decided the game with the clincher against a tough defense.

No question that the Villanova defender committed two fouls there as he jammed his arm in downward and divebomb tackled the 2 MU guys. Now we need to have Fluffy chime in that the fouls were on Lewis and Kolek.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Re watched the final 9 minutes too.
Agree have been in that arena and noticed the same things. Also Lewis was very calm in his interview with CBS Sports Network too.

When your team scores 3 points in 7 minutes, it sucks a little bit of the energy out of the crowd.

VERY familiar with teh "oh crap" feeling of impending doom after watching many of those stretches.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

I think you’re right, it was a very uneasy crowd.

The only time Nova ever looked comfortable or confident was when they went up 9 and body language looked like they had taken the punch and weathered it. I didn't see a lot of emotion from the Nova players through most of the game.

Kudos to the guys (notably Greg) for making big shots and making them uncomfortable down the stretch.

Villanova’s play at the end with Gillespie pitching the ball to Moore was on a similar spot on the floor as Archie’s pitch to Jenkins to Win the title. Only Gillespie cut the other way and there were 7 seconds on the shot instead of a buzzer shot and Moore could not get his to go down for the tie.
