Well, they did get what they want...in Ohio at least. The reason I haven't seen individual player props recently is Ohio removed that from the legal forms of sports betting. No more individual player props in college sports betting in Ohio. Which sucks because it's pretty hard to build an interesting same-game parlay without individual player props.

I'd be cool with this. Player props provide a huge opportunity for unsavory characters to predate on individual players.  Sure you can still have point shaving schemes, etc., but that's a much tougher crime to pull off. And to the extent there will still be a black market for player props, that's not a reason to not legislate against it.

Here in Maryland too, no more NCAA player props, noticed maybe 4-6 weeks ago it changed.

The guys sitting in the row behind us for the 1st rd game against WKU talked constantly about betting, and they had action on *everything*. Prop bets on people in our games, other games, random womens' tourney games, it was wild.

The actions in Ohio and Maryland weren't anything done by the NCAA. that's all I was saying. They were moves by the states - and I actually agree that player prop bets aren't good for the game. There is an NBA player being investigated for manipulating such a bet right now.

You don't think the schools in these states put any pressure on their local legislators to get the laws passed?

My guess would be action on professional player props (regardless of sport) will be very low limits across the U.S. over the next year. There definitely will be some form of change forthcoming, feds/states aren’t going to put up with what’s going on (and the Porter story is only one of many).

It makes sense to not have them on the collegiate level.

Empirically, Ive always found them to be quite a bit lower than other lines when it comes to online books. 

Which is unfortunate cause I think its one of the last pockets of value left.  When you see an O/U or spread that seems odd, it normally ends up being a trap line or something that totally plays out.  But I can think of countless times I saw P/R/A totals or similar that seemed way too low or high and it turned out to be the case.  But of course you usually can't put all that much on them comparatively
