A tournament team should not be losing to a team that is 6-13 in conference play. That is not an excusable loss. Im not sure what to think given how good they played in Jan.

It’s an excusable loss under some circumstances. Every team plays a clunker on the road every so often. It’s just that this is now a 5 game losing streak on the road and the only 2 wins have been grind it out games against horrible Q3 and Q4 teams.

The plan now is to use Georgetown as a warmup before playing Creighton the next day.

Posted this on another board, but I really think the physicality of a BE season has worn on them. Especially since a bunch of them have never been through it.

Thanks, Doddsie, but I'm not buying the "tired legs" syndrome that seems to be a staple on the other Board

Rookies struggle with that all the time in the NBA. Are they not NBA players?

A lot of guys on this roster are playing a lot of minutes at a higher level than they ever have. And on the whole they've acquitted themselves quite well. Just think they've hit the wall. Since the Nova game the defense and three point shooting have tanked.

The college basketball season is like 35 games. The NBA season is 82 and every game is 20% longer. Rookie burnout in the NBA is a thing because the season is almost 3 times as long.

Look, normally I'd be right there with you. I rolled my eyes at it a bunch.

But when I see the jump shooting numbers and defensive efficiency dropping like a rock, against lesser competition, it's fatigue, the regression express coming into station, or a combination of the two.

Do you want me to go re-post all your whining from November and December?  Saying how much the team sucked?

UCONN lost at Creighton tonight with Creighton's backup freshman PG playing.  It's a long season.  It's a tough league.  We laid an egg tonight.  Did Providence go fold their tent after we beat them by 40 at home?  Rick Pitino said every year you'd have one game that is just a clunker.  This was ours.  But, DePaul is not a slouch team.

"Trash for weeks."  Drama queen.

Go ahead.  The team did suck in November and December.  They figured it out in Jan and looked really good for a month.  And they sucked again in February.  They did enough to January to limp into the tournament, but yes, they've been trash for weeks.  They're 2-4 in their last 6 with wins over a winless Gtown team and bad Butler team, both games in which MU did not look good.  They've also lost to Butler and Depaul in that time, giftwrapped Creighton a huge W and got outclassed by UCONN.  So yes, they've been mostly terrible for a month now.  Sorry facts offend you.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

I really wish I could disagree with this, but I can't. At this point, I just hope that that MU responds to this loss they way they responded to the first Creighton loss. I'd be lying if I said I was optimistic. But I wasn't optimistic on January 2, either.
