Nice piece. Says a lot about Al as well and the person he was.

Also a different, simpler time in college basketball.

Really nice story, Brew. Thanks for sharing. A nice glimpse into Al the man rather than the coach.

One small correction. Against North Carolina we didn’t trail for most of the game. We led by 8 or 9 at halftime I think and held a lead for most of the 2nd half. As soon as NC took the lead (not by several points but by 1 or 2) Dean Smith went into the 4 corners. We let them hold it and rested for several minutes (Al played his best 5 big minutes and we were tired) when we came after them they attacked and Bo Ellis made a big block. We scored and quickly pulled away. Won by 8.
