Wow.  Apparently from COVID-19 complications. Stunned.  May he rest in peace.

Like most public figures, his passing will be divisive because that’s where we are as a nation.  He made a tragic mistake as a public official and was remorseful for it.  Unlike many of those that will take potshots at him today, he did more service for this nation than most.  While I didn’t agree with his politics, I respected the man and his service to America.  God speed

He did more for our nation "than most" is a vast understatement regardless of his politics.  Look at his resume.  He served our nation beyond admirably for essentially his entire adult life.  God bless his wife and family.

I agree. He made one big mistake by trusting a close friend (Tenet) and he apologized for it.

He was a great mentor and an advocate for all soldiers.

Wut?

Powell was smart, fair, measured, and accountable.  Thats why he was successful in basically all facets of life and why you're seeing respect in the remembrance from basically across the board, regardless of political affiliation.

Well, not quite from across the board ...

Trump, whose rhetoric Powell criticized as "dangerous to our democracy," was the only living former president not to issue a statement recognizing Powell after his death.

I hope youre taking advantage of the landlord stipends for the penthouse apartment he’s occupying rent free in your head.  You and Rocket should use the same property management company for your tenants and get a group rate.

I gave absolutely no opinion, Wags, just stated a fact.

I guess the fact that a great American died and every living ex-president but one recognized him ... that's not worth mentioning in a thread dedicated to that great American.

I didn't give him a hilarious nickname. Didn't call him out for lacking class. Just stated a fact. Who knew facts bothered you so much, Wags?

Oh my bad, just facts? Not a pathological need to bring up (insert clever nickname or “your god/savior/hero) in every non-MUBB thread? Got it.

Thank you for keeping us abreast of such valuable facts and insights.  Always helps to know how our esteemed former President applies to so many things  8-)

Except none of those disparaging things were in what I posted. There was no opinion, no nicknames, no nuthin' except a fact. You have made it into something else ... which I guess is a pathological need for you?

You brought up politics (again) when there was no need to.  Go find a political board somewhere instead of constantly using this one to scratch that itch you have.

“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!” — Donald F. Trump

I think you're being too tough on roQQet here, Unk.

He said emphatically that the only acceptable comment when discussing Colin Powell was "respectful remembrance." But when the one person on the planet he admires most unleashed the least-respectful possible remembrance of Powell, roQQet ignored that and instead shot the messenger.

Still, I can't deny that you're right about it lacking most of roQQet's normal eloQuence.

Wow.  Apparently from COVID-19 complications. Stunned.  May he rest in peace.

He was also battling multiple myeloma which at best has a life expectancy of 5 years. He was immunocompromised so it's not unexpected that the vaccine would not help. So it is fair to say that he died from complications of COVID as wells as multiple myeloma.

Irony abounds.

But at least you're gonna have a brand spankin' new social media platform to use soon, and that will be filled with "respectful" takes for sure!
