One of Wojo's teams  Markus Howards (I think Year 6) beat that year's TBT team. It was by a decent margin as well.

I look at it this way:

We have 3 5th year seniors, each of whom bring one very good skill set ( rim protector, defense, 3 Point Shooter)   and our two of our sophomores each played well as freshman.

That gives a starting 5 that should be very comfortable playing in Conference games.

We have two Sophomores that have the length and athleticism to contribute minutes to the rotation.

We should have one Freshman out of the five emerge early on as a contributor.

We should have a second Freshman making contributions by the end of the season.

I think our 8-9 guys will be competitive enough to compete with all the rest of the teams competing for the 3rd through 11th spot in the Big East this year.

I'd like to buy into this outlook but I see the same issue as last year in that we have no go to scorer. So unless Greg wants to look like his senior year in HS self I just don't see the guy that we know we'll get >15 a game from as the go to guy. Just a lot of candidates for Robin but no Batman

Athlon magazine (remember going to the news stand to get all of the college basketball magazines?)  projects a 9th place finish for MU.
Remember. I just did on Sunday. ;)

Who starts up front next to Kuath?    Does Kuath start?     Which of the true freshmen are ready to contribute immediately?     Who is the go to scorer in the last minute?    Who is on the floor offensively in the last minute?    Who is on the floor defensively in the last minute?     How will Shaka defend the high P&R to keep Kuath from being isolated on the perimeter against Gillespie?    Can Kolek guard at the Big East level?    Can Greg stay healthy?     If he can't, who is the third guard?

We have a statement that Stevie was the best player.    Do we know if that was a one-off, or will that be the case going forward?

There are absolutely no answers for this team right now other than young, athletic, long, inexperienced, new coach.      None of those indicate a top of the Big East finish.     It could happen.   And I am rooting for it as I think it is heresy to ever root for a coach of your program to fail.   But it will be drawing to an inside straight.

At least basketball will be played and we get to see our favorite team.
Will be fun to see who emerges as producers.

I am more concerned about recruiting at this point.

KK will be one of the best interior defenders in the conference and everyone is familiar with Morsell's game. Those two will set the tone and let the younger players grow into their own game.

A lot of us have been programmed by the Wojo droids to "trust the process." This team has the possibility to overachieve (top 5 in BE) if they all buy in defensively.

Where you at boi @Vander Blue Man Group

Gotta admit you nailed 2022.

I still think you're overly worried about the program going forward, and it'll be a quick correction.

This season has really beaten me down simply because I saw it coming from a long ways away. It's refreshing reading these old takes knowing a quick turnaround is possible with the right additions :-)
