That's 2.5 blocks from my AirBnB, but seems like the kinda event former RAs would attend only.

Lol, fair. Where the real party at, tho??

Infamous sweat stain MU cap worn by the AD who's name should not be written / uttered on Scoop.

This spot on memory made me laugh!

You all could've left BeeJay at The Annex and now you're going to tell him where you'll actually be?  Mistakes.

Sounds like Retire0 could throw together a house party.

Restaurants
Fleet Landing - waterfront patio perfect on a nice day.  Beware the gulls.
Hall's Chophouse
82 Queen
39 Rue de Jean

Hotels
The Charleston Marriott is very nice. Courtyard Historic District also nice and I believe arena is right there.

Is anyone aware of any good family-friendly (I'll have my kids) places to eat walking distance to TD?

I always took my kids everywhere, not sure how old yours are, but a few places are: FIG, The Ordinary, Hyman's Seafood (never been personally), and Callie's Hot Little Biscuit. There are so many little places to pop into, you will definitely have options. I also love to walk everywhere and eat sitting on street curbs, so I'm never really at a loss.

Awesome, thanks! Our kids are 4, 2 and 8 months  :o

We bring them everywhere as well (besides very fine dining). I appreciate the recommendations!

Your children may be a little young, or they may hate animals, or they may specifically hate cats -- all of which are acceptable reasons to disregard this message -- but there is a little place just down the street (1 or 2 blocks maximum) from TD called the Pounce Cat Cafe. My two girls loved that place, much to my dismay, when they were younger and it became a mandatory stop when in Charleston.

It is not really a place to eat, but you can grab a glass of wine or a beer, and then you pay per the half hour or hour (part goes to the local humane society, if I recall) and you can hang out with adoptable cats. A good change of pace for children, if even a touch pricy.

FYI: There may be an age restriction. My girls started going when they were about 6 or 7.

Otherwise, a bit further away, Dap's is great for breakfast and super kid friendly; Basic Kitchen is decent too. After that, you are probably 5-10 blocks from decent children friendly places. The Marina Variety Store is decent, on the water, and relatively budget friendly, with a kid's menu. We would go there on occasion, but its probably a good 10 city blocks or half-hour walk from the TD arena area . There was some pizza place the name of which I cannot recall that is always good on the family side of things.

Hope this helps. Enjoy Charleston. It is a favorite spot of our family. But for some other trips this year, we would have definitely considered heading down.

That's awesome! I have many a fond memory of plopping the baby carrier on a bar top/stool. Enjoy!

Wish I could go.  Wasn't in the cards this year.

Charleston is lovely.  Was just there in the spring.  Check out 167 Raw if you like seafood - wow it was good!  We ended up going 2x in a long weekend it was so good.  The food in that town is top notch.

My son and I will be there for Thursday and Friday.  May go to one of the Alumni gatherings if schedule works out.

Willfully misinformed.

What's up with the liquor stores closing at 7p tho??

I need a good grocery store near Liberty Place Hilton. Have a full kitchen and want to use it a little bit (eg, frozen pizza & beer)
