I’ll take a look at some of these factors. I figure we’ll only be walking to the arena a few times ( we love MU of course, and we like basketball but not enough to go to all the games ) so being more walkable to the other things in Charleston is probably more important for us. Right now it looks like 2/5 of our basketball gals group will be heading there.

The Courtyard on the official list is not really a pleasant walk to the arena. Hopefully, the team stays closer. You have to cross a very busy street that is almost a highway at some point. The most direct route has you walking along that highway for a good chunk of the way. The easier cross puts you a few minutes further walk. But it is a nice place, as is the full service Marriott. That was the team hotel for the Carrier Classic. But not really walkable.
The Embassy suites is the old Citadel. Interesting, historical place. As a Marriott guy, I do like the Courtyard Downtown near the arena.
I am a Hilton guy so we will stay at the Embassy Suites. Hopefully that breakfast buffet is open again. Love those omelets.
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Obviously everywhere is different but the ES buffet was open in Louisville the last week of April

They do get way too crowded last times I've stayed (while doing inspection work, perks)

There is no finer feeling than handing over a free drink ticket in exchange for a glass of turpentine house white vino.

OMG!  One of the two times I traveled in 2020 we stayed at an Embassy Suites in Pittsburgh.  The wife and I remarked how COVID restrictions had awfully reduced ES's famous breakfast buffet to two guys handing out paper bags with fruit & yogurt in it.

Like most southern states, South Carolina was fairly early to ease Covid restrictions. I'd be surprised if the Embassy Suites in Charleston isn't back to full operations ... but a quick call to them by those interested could end all doubt.

I say this as someone who is on the cautious side of the covid pandemic measures. If we aren't back to normal by November, we will have far more important things to worry about than free (albeit yummy) breakfasts.
On a side note, the Residence Inn family stayed at in Orlando was back to full breakfasts, such as theirs are.

The Charleston brackets are to be released Thursday. Based on T-Rank projections for next season, here are the possible seeds:

1. Bonnies (16 in T-Rank nationally)
2. WVU (32)
3. Clemson (48)
4. Ole Miss (67)
5. Boise State (68)
6. Marquette (87)
7. Temple (119)
8. Elon (176)

If this holds, MU gets Clemson. That said, this is a pretty balanced tournament.

For reference, I looked at Haslam to compare win (year end) projections with MU's team from last year and MU would still have been a six seed from a season-ago. ESPN may say differently when these are released Thursday. However, this should be a parity tournament but with less downside or upside on the NET ratings I would say versus other Thanksgiving tournaments we've played in: Hit it straight down the fairway.

Good comment, Dr. B.

Also, discounted ticket presale starts tomorrow and runs through Friday. Mrs. 82 wants to just get the better seats, which are closer to the court and have backs, and be done with it. So that's what we'll do. They're pretty darn cheap anyway -- $158. I tend to agree with her that it's not worth trying to do Stubhub the day before the tournament in an attempt to save only a few bucks.

Okay so the $158 seats have backs, the others are just like bleachers?
We’re really only interested in hitting the MU games but I might make the executive decision to go ahead and buy as well, I don’t think we want to end up in the bleachers.

Yeah, in presale, the better seats are only $50 more for the entire event. Seems an easy decision.

Got a link for tickets? I signed up but haven’t seen anything.

Nevermind, it went to junk like everything from ESPN.

Is that $158 for the whole tournament? My brother, also a MU grad, is thinking about moving to Charleston in the early fall so if he does then I’m definitely going to go to this...and rip King St

Yes. All 12 games. $13.17 per game or $52.67 per MU win.

Clemson fans, being local, would be your best bet as they are most apt to look for single game tickets as SEC football will be their interest (this tournament takes Saturday off for CFB). WVU fans would be next is my guess.

The basketball only school fans will buy the all-game package.

Just bought my tickets, as did our St. Bonnie friends who are gonna meet us in Charleston.

Looking forward to several fun days in a great town with friends we haven't seen since before the pandemic. And obviously hoping Shaka's lads turn a few heads ... and in a good way!

The event is releasing the bracket tomorrow. Curious to see who we'll play first and what other teams are on our side of the bracket.

We Are Marquette!
