Very good choice for Jamal. I wish him good fortune.

This is a prime example of what open transfers will do for mid-majors. They will be the beneficiaries of this FAR more than they will be victimized by it.

Happy for him, hope Shaka can find a small forward who can take his place. For sure now he needs 2 starters to bring in, a small forward and a 2 guard. Both need to be able to hit the 3, it will be interesting the next month or so.  Cain had his moments for sure, when he was on they won. I will miss his adventures when he decided to dribble. Great hops.

Agree a righteous and awesome dude. He and Greg would always stop say hi and talk with us whether it be in Qdoba on campus or in the 3rd Ward. Going to miss the Greg And Jamal show on court and off. Class Acts.

Best of luck to Jamal. Looking at their roster, they could use some rebounding and outside shooting. He looks like a great fit and should be awesome in the Horizon.

Given his experience and ability, I think Jamal can be a star in his year at Oakland. As with all former Warriors who decide to move on, I wish him nothing but success.

Whenever transfers and Cain were discussed, I always thought Oakland was the natural fit.

While I appreciate everything he did at Marquette, you have to think that this transfer is akin to climbing down out of an F 16 and strapping into a Cessna.

Aim High is not just a credo but an affirmation of excellence.

Yes aiming high is a generally speaking the preferred approach.

In this case, I think the specifics point to taking the tri-cycle approach. Jamal needs a season of skills improvement in order to make it to a foreign professional league, which is his goal. .

A) He is going to his home, playing for a Coach who has a 37 year track record of success, B)Oakland as a Horizon League team will have a number of buy games against high major opponents,
C) Jamal  willl get a chance to test his skills improvement the high majors and make adjustments and then,
D)Jamal can go into the conference portion of the league and get lots of reps to improve his skills, while at the same time helping the team win their conference and gaining all league honors etc.

If Jamal stayed at a high major he would have to fit into a very defined role which really doesn't help his future out.

I am very happy for him. The kid represented MU incredibly on an off the court. In particular he had one of the best team first attitudes I have seen in a player in a long time.
