Every game I watch, there is the repeated discussion about Marquette%u2019s propensity to turn the ball over. I%u2019d agree it%u2019s ugly but the question nobody seems to answer is how ugly is it?

Two thoughts to kick this one off. Is there a seasonal statistic governing points off turnovers, similar to football? It would seem that one of the big reasons we%u2019re losing is points off turnovers %u2014 but I really don%u2019t know. Basketball turnovers and floor position don%u2019t as matter as much as they do in football, but for this Marquette team, they probably do!

In other words, where would we be if we were %u201Cnormal%u201D on turnovers? Undefeated? Probably not. But in contention for an NCAA bid? Most likely.

Secondly, what is a %u201Cnormal%u201D level of turnovers? I%u2019d throw this out for consideration. If I were coaching our Warriors, I%u2019d be telling the team I wanted to see net zero turnovers. That means we have as many turnovers as we have takeaways. Teams that have more takeaways than turnovers probably are in the AP Top 10!

Turnovers are an issue, but forcing almost zero turnovers on the defensive end is the bigger problem imo
