I missed your thread.  Thankfully they had the video and justice prevailed here based on the evidence.

Jockey

Kinda funny how much the cops placate these murderers. The video in the link is truly sickening.

Surprised the defense couldn't get an acquittal with this type of defense...

"Turning Ahmaud Arbery into a victim after the choices that he made does not reflect the reality of what brought Ahmaud Arbery to Satilla Shores in his khaki shorts with no socks to cover his long, dirty toenails," Hogue told jurors.

Justice does sometimes get served.

The defense was asking the jury to believe: "We chased down an unarmed man in our car, we caught him, and we pointed our guns at him. And when he made a move for one of the guns we were threatening to kill him with, we had to pull the trigger. It was self-defense!"

As others have stated, thank goodness there was video evidence to show how ridiculous that defense was. I do shudder to think what the verdict would have been without it.

These guys can now go bond with their fellow Aryan Brothers in prison. They'll probably enjoy it.

Those who truly care about justice are grateful for this verdict.

Just as in the Rittenhouse case, the testimony and the videotape led the jury to the only logical conclusion.

Wrong thread.

I agree completely. I do care that justice is always the goal and believe these guys deserved the verdict. IMO, this was a slam dunk and these three should be in prison. Unlike some, I do believe that justice is served the vast majority of the time and I never celebrate any verdict.

The only thing I don't agree with about this case is that it took 74 days to arrest the murderers, even after the viral video. A verdict in a murder case is nothing to celebrate or be happy about, but some degree of justice was served today nonetheless.

Justice was served but...

...it took digging by a reporter to initially uncover why a black man was shot.

...the defendants releasing the video tape on their own

...one of the defendants being defended by a personal injury lawyer.

Some questions need to be asked about the policing in this situation.

I think that a quick "arrest" should be true for all killings, even if the killing appears justified on the face of it. You should go somewhere secure for observation and counseling, and from there they can decide to release you to be free or to jail.

I can't imagine killing someone and just sitting in my house that night, alone with my own thoughts.

Wrong thread.

why? It's about justice being served thanks to clear and convincing video evidence.

Almost polar opposite situations. Both have their own threads.

As to the title of this thread ...

The Billy Bobs no doubt feel that this was just another example of whitey being victimized by reverse racism -- which tens of millions of Americans believe is worse than actual racism.

The local DA was arrested a few months ago for the way she put her finger on the scale on behalf of the defendants with regard to the original prosecutorial investigation. I do not know if there is any investigation of the initial police investigation.

Thank you. I had forgot about that.

Spaniel with a Short Tail

Politico article indicates that the charges against her include directing law enforcement not to arrest McMichael so perhaps local law enforcement is off the hook here.
