But he is better than the other options as a back up PG.    BTW, going through the UWGB thread from 2012 that I hoopalooped, seeing Ners advocate for Derrick to start over Junior made laugh out loud.

This. To me it's less about comparing him to past players who had little to no business playing extended minutes for MU and more about seeing what he's done thus far. Which is pretty much nothing. Love the kid. Not super optimistic with the progression thus far. For a PG, he doesn't do the things that we need a point guard to do well.

I mean, we are not expecting him to be the starting point guard on a Sweet 16 team or anything.  He's a back up PG and is fine in the role.  Will he ever be more than that?  Who knows?

Looks like he isn't playing tonight.  Who gets the back up minutes at the point?   I predict Koby.

I'm not yet a fan of Sy but Sy in a boot is a better option than Koby.

Who backs up DJ with Symir out?    I do not see Greg, Dexter, or Perez as better options than Koby.

IMO, Greg.  He can dish and drive.

IMO, Greg.  He can dish and drive.

He can't really dribble, though. It will be Koby. Maybe Dex but we've seen nothing to prove he is capable of that yet.

It will be Koby.  He's already brought the ball up and initiated the offense multiple times this season.

If DJ stays out of foul trouble he can play 40 minutes.  Problem solved.

Are you seeing something I missed? Or is it just based on the walking boot?

Koby is light years ahead of Sy at any position.

Thats not the exact trade off though.

Koby is light years better off the ball. So now with no Sy hes gonna have to be on the ball more.

Dj and Koby is the best combo clearly.

But when DJ sits. Its extremely debateable whats better Sy and Koby vs Koby and Greg/Dex

Yeah, I'll keep one eye on T/O rate to see if we can maintain our 5 game (14) average without Sy.

I’ll roll with Koby at any and all positions with respect to Sy. Koby as the backup #1....and Koby as the starting #2.

Again, thats not the exact trade off.

If Sy is healthy. Koby can basically play his entire game off the ball where he is far better.

Sy at the 1 and koby at the 2 is better than Koby at the 1 and Greg or Dex at the 2.

The actual question is basically do you think Symir sucks so bad that not only are Greg and Dex better than him but we want Koby playing where hes less comfortable.

Rest my case on this one.

Koby at the 1 is not ever going to be the preferred option.

It's a toe injury. I don't think we've been given specifics but I'd imagine he broke a toe and is in some pain.
