I think some of these  closed restaurant and bar businesses will reopen once the  Covid vaccine is broadly distributed.

Definitely recently. I feel like when I started going there in like 2010 it was decent.

Yep. It’s Four Corners Group. They all had decent upscale bar food. Same food at almost all of the Lincoln Parl/Lakeview spots. But it definitely declined but it was perfectly fine from like 2008-2012/2013

Yeah I mean I'm not going to say it was unreal but the original Buffalo chicken egg rolls, fish tacos, and even the burger were above average.

Btws most memorable games there:

The win over #1 Nova
The record beatdown of Madison
The win over Miami to head to the E8
The win over Cuse to go to the S16

if a business has announced that they are permanently closed, it probably isn't coming back.

At least under current ownership.

Agreed. The building will once more hold a bar/restaurant because it's in a vibrant neighborhood and is outfitted for food and beverage activities...but the odds are it will be under new ownership, so the vibe could be completely different.

Agreed. Out here we’ve had businesses announced “closed for the foreseeable future,” “closed through 2020 (or another date),” closed and evaluating Options” and just plain closing. Some don’t even announce.

So my first ever post was about the schoolyard, do I retire from scoop now that it doesn't exist?

Umm there already are two great Chicago MU bars between the Schoolyard Tavern and the Four Shadows.  The Schoolyard has MU cups and tshirts on game days, and mu posters and flags, great food, and is right off the brown line.  Whereas the Hidden Shamrock is a place where a bunch of Depaul students go... I should know my girl friend is a senior there.

The beatdown of bucky was the first game I watched there. Place was packed. Great vibe.

Those owners may go out of business, but if the location is good and the equipment etc is all in place some one else may try to make a go of it.

I am not sure that I have ever heard of a bar that went out of business, was purchased by someone else, and reopened as the same bar, especially if the place doesn't have any type of historical or cultural significance.
Have some patience, FFS.

Well I think there's another MU bar in that Brown Line neighborhood.

And I also remember some game-watching parties at a place in Forest Park, as well as Downers Grove.

I didn't say it never happens, but good job on the Googling, anyway.   ::)

If we weren’t in such a significant economic retraction for certain industries, I Would agree with you chick. This environment is different though—there will be some good small businesses that go under due to not owning their property or debt that certainly can be revived when demand returns (or with lower rents or improved capitalization)

O'Sullivan's in Forest park has had game watching before don't think they had any this past year but it's a solid pub atmosphere except bad food. The spot by Schoolyard you might be thinking of is Commonwealth. Decent food, but it's a notre dame bar first and foremost.

Emmet's.  Good food, beer brewed on site, Marquette ties in the family that owns it.

There is an Emmet's in Wheaton as well. They have held alumni functions there.
