I'm not sure about that, there's this pandemic thing going on that may have had some influence on his decision.

Nah.
A lot has changed since then. Given the uncertainty over whether there will even be a college basketball season, this is the smart move for him.

Not when he goes undrafted or gets cut, which is far more likely

If only there were  other professional basketball leagues out there were he could make six figures (and probably tax free, with housing included).

Maybe he won't, maybe he will, maybe he'll get taken in the first round and end up the steal of the draft. Doesn't matter much now, the ship has sailed. Best of luck to the young man and glad he gave full consideration to Marquette in his decision-making process.

He must have received some feedback from some teams that he would be drafted.  We'll see.

He must have received some feedback from some teams that he would be drafted.  We'll see.

Probably more likely he just thinks there’s less than a coin flips chance there is a full NCAA season, or even a season at all.

That being said, I don’t think this will turn into a wise decision for him if his dream is the NBA. He’ll be overseas within a year and a half.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Which he may be fine with.  I wonder if a number of fringe one and done types might choose to go overseas if the college season ends up cancelled.

I'm here. I remember you saying he wasn't going to be coming to MU but were coy with what he was going to do, but maybe you did say he was opting to skip college.

Either way, congrats on Marquette not getting a good recruit. Definitely something for MU fans to celebrate.

Mike,

Bad Reporter was kind enough to share information with me many, many months ago that indicated we were out with Mane. It was, for both of us, disappointing rather than celebratory. But it was news, and it was accurate. Isn’t that something journalists celebrate - find “heroic”, even?

If Bad Reporter's assertion was that we were out with Mane back in March, then he was incorrect. He may have had information that led to him predicting the correct outcome but we (and every other college on his list) were not out with Mane until May.

Couldn't you say this about every prediction made by anyone ever?

<Babe Ruth points to outfield>
Fan 1: By golly, I think Ruth is going to hit a homer!
<Babe Ruth hits homer>
Fan 1: Wow!
Fan 2: You may have had information that led to the correct prediction, but technically <pushes up glasses>, six seconds ago, you didn't know that for sure.

Well sure as long as we are talking about predictions. If Fan 1 had said "Babe hit a homer" before he actually did it, Fan 1 would be incorrect.

Just messin, Newsie.

I couldn't keep all the actual timelines/posts correct. And I have no idea if bad reporter is part of the meat summiters.

But you had reporter being backed up by ners and 4ever.

But then chili and you backed up TAMU. (And chili, to my knowledge, was the one who continued to say Mane was in play the whole time)

And the info was different on both sides.

We had a source that had real time info inside the program. My suspicion is that BR had a source inside Mane’s camp.  All good.  Bad and I will unravel this over some bourbon in the future.
