Just another topic that old Vogue65 has a problem with.

1.   They frighten most dogs.
2.   They frighten most children.
3.    They are inherently very dangerous.
3.    They bring back PTSD to many combat vets.

My father in WWII lost 16 men in his company from a mortor attack his first day in combat.
As an old man the sound of fireworks would bring tears to his eyes.

Is this new this year? Cant recall fireworks over 4th of july weekend to really be a problem. Excessive fireworks? Really late at night? Sure yeah. But what's the point you want to push here?.we should just stop using fireworks completely? It's once a year thing. Most ppl go.chill on a lake or at a park and watch some works for an hour. Shouldn't be an issue if done with some courtesy of course. To much whining over things it seems sometimes people are.

SERocks

The problem is the inconsiderate assholes that start lighting them off two weeks prior to 7/4 and continue for two weeks after.  At midnight.  On work nights.  etc......

Certainly I'll be up in lauderdale lakes getting my fireworks on. Then I'll stop lighting them like normal people after the holiday is over.

Nah.  On duty.   As dry as it is, I will be driving around to the various grass fires.   Hopefully no injuries this year.

Nah.

Babies, yes.   Our kids, and all the kids around me .. love them.

GooooMarquette

As with most others here, I have no problem with them on the fourth. I do have a problem with people lighting them at all hours of the day and night from early June through August.

Keithtisbarf

People have been lighting them off at all hours of the night in Milwaukee for the past month. I don't mind July 4, but there is no reason to do it all month other than be rebellious.

wadesworld

I hear them where I live, but I don't think any are overly close to me very often. I sleep with a white noise maker running and with that on I don't hear them at all.

In general, if you're a lighter sleeper I couldn't recommend a white noise maker more. It's helped my sleep a ton.

rocket surgeon

I live about a mile from a good size high school. Can usually hear the band and maybe the crowd noise slightly. Definitely see their lights.  Unless they get booster sponsored fireworks, I'd be questioning the use of fireworks for every little activity at tax payer expense. First off, they ain't cheap secondly, give my dog palpitations and gas and 3rd...why?

All for them around the 4th at "reasonable" hours

Ordered out this morning to public areas in our area to water down the dry grass to try to avoid grass fires later.   This hasn't been tried here before.   I am somewhat skeptical.

I hate amateur fireworks, but you get the 2nd-5th without judgement.

After that, every big boomer I hear after my kids bedtime, you're an pretty boy.

If it's a hot sunny day, the grass will probably be totally dry by this afternoon....

I'm with you up until wishing injury upon the perpetrators?

Yeah I edited that. Not really hoping.

Interesting insights on the subject.

I didn't consider the cost factor, I'm sure it is a big number and mostly just conspicuous consumption.

Little kids enjoying fireworks so much supports my contention that they are really juvenile.

I'm sure my attitude is unamerican, oh well, enjoy the celebration.

Let the old combat vets. suck it up and let the triggers fade away.  Old soldiers never die, they just fade away.

Cost is really low right now usually they're expensive though
