Help with Finding Old Games
« on: April 25, 2020, 12:01:09 PM »
Inspired by Paint Touches mubbRewatch, I've been finding old Marquette classic wins and rewatching them, which has been really enjoyable. My assumption is that if the games can't be found via youtube / an internet search, then they are not available to watch. Does anyone know of other ways to find old games?

I have found & watched the 2003 tournament games vs. Holy Cross, Missouri, and Kentucky, but have been unable to find the Pitt game of that run. I'd also love to find the 2009-2010 3 consecutive OT wins with Cincy, St.John's, and Seton Hall with JFB's heroics.

Just thought I'd reach out to verify if I'm truly at a dead end with my search. Thanks for any help!

There’s the Pitt game. I haven’t seen the OT run anywhere.

I posted this about a year ago.
All links appear to be working.  I also added about a half dozen NCAA games (including the 1977 title game), that weren't included in the original post.

Thanks, guys, especially 81. These are great!

I had forgotten about the cheerleaders with the bare midriffs, which was a highlight.
Jeez, we had good-looking cheerleaders back then.

Anybody have the 96 MU game at UL on tape by chance? 1st MU road game ever went to. Tried to tape the game at my Grandpa's house in Milwaukee, but did not record correctly. Went with buddy who's a UL fan and his then girlfriend, now wife, and we've been to the vast majority of the games MU and UL have played since then, including the game at Barclay's 18 months ago.

Speaking of Louisville games, does anyone have the March 2004 game (81-80 win) or the January 1998 game (71-70 win)?

There are so many great games vs. UL, but I'm looking for the wins!

Pretty sure I'm stating the obvious Maura, but just in case, MU won 80-79 in 2 OT at UL in '96 on a Hutch about 30-foot, right-wing 3 while double-teamed with about 3 seconds left.

I was also at the game at UL in '98. Wardle's shot not quite as good as Hutch, but darned close, and coming back from down 14 with about 5 minutes to go darned impressive. Then what Deane did after the game made an interesting trip getting back to the car.

Oh, wow! I became a fan in 1997 when I was a freshman at MU, so I just missed the 1996 game. I was at the 1998 game at UL, and, yes, Deane's gesture walking off the court was quite memorable.

Wasn't there an MU vs. Louisville game where Diener hit a very late shot to either tie or take the lead and then someone on Louisville came down and hit a game winner?

If so, I believe we were driving back to our hotel from a volleyball tournament and heard Homer calling Diener's tying/winning shot and went nuts.  The radio got cut out and a couple seconds later we were hearing Homer down in the dumps.  Wild.

That f*cking game. One of the very best college games I've ever seen. Incredible atmosphere, tons of lead changes. Merritt got called for a horsesh*t foul that would have led to a bustout for MU. Diener ties it. Gaines wins it.

I'm so glad we got them back at Freedom Hall a couple weeks later.

Everything that happened in that series between '96 and '13 when they were both in the same league would be worthy of a documentary. Recall making a list in '13, and the game were James hit about a half-court shot to send it to OT at UL wasn't one of the 10 best things that happened in the series in that time.

That's a good solid list Dr. I'd put the 10th game there they have ahead of the '06 game. If I'm recalling games correctly, that's the game MU scored the first 19 of the game, UL outscored 'em 46-16 the rest of the half, then MU came back from a second-half deficit more because of Diener than Wade.

Other I'd put ahead of 06 game:
97 game at the BC where MU won in OT. Crawford hit about a 30-footer along the sideline to beat the shot clock late. Lovette was 13-13 from the line.
04 1st game at UL. Novak went nuts, scored 30.
09 game at UL. Not a great level of play, but both teams were in the top 10. Thought Brent should've fouled once more. Didn't foul down two possessions with about 12 seconds left. At least make 'em make one more FT before calling off the dogs.

Speaking of...does anyone have a copy of the 2011-12 game against Washington in the Jimmy V Classic at MSG?  One of the few games from the Buzz era that I don't seem to have a recording of.

I don't even recall that game being televised.

I don't think it was. The final shot is on Youtube.

Made the drive from MKE for that one. Wild-ass game.

I thank BJ it was because wasn’t that the game where DJ was respectfully chattering at Jay Williams who was doing color commentary?
DJ scored the last 18 points of the game if my memory serves me correctly.

That was the NC State game from his senior year.
