Providence #2
« on: February 19, 2020, 12:55:53 PM »
Important game Saturday. Get a win, flip the momentum and I could see MU starting a long winning streak and making a run at top 3 in the conference. A loss drops us to .500 and far more likely to enter the 7-10 seed range.

Jayce is going to be a key. PC doesn't ever stretch the floor with 4 or 5 shooters so he'll be able to stay in the paint on defense where he's best. He played 21 minutes in the last game but wasn't fully healthy yet. Ed got abused by PC's bigs in limited minutes.

PC beat SHU and Creighton in their last two home games so they are certainly no pushover. Vegas will likely have this game as a toss-up. Think MU is in a good spot to rebound and start a 3 game winning streak.

Edit: Didn't see Cheeks thread. Feel free to merge.

The Friars are two-point favorites tomorrow.

MU should win and more than cover the two points. The Warriors owe Providence one from the game in Milwaukee.

Go Warriors!

This game does not give me the warm and fuzzies.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Tough day at the office.

Too careless with the basketball, too few assists, plenty of open looks but not enough hoops.

MU kept Diallo in check but could not stop Pipkins. The Warriors made that guy look like Scottie Pippen.

No one likes a losing streak at this time of year, but the team has four games remaining to right the ship before the Big East Tournament.

The Warriors faced a team desperate to stay on the bubble. Providence's NET number is not good and its Quad 1 record still needs enhancing before it can breathe easily about its NCAA chances. Even with today's win, there is no guarantee that the Friars make the Dance, with games at Villanova and home games against Xavier and DePaul. While the Friars can enjoy their season sweep of MU, they are not out of the woods.

Other than the losing streak, its road record is now 3-6. The team needs wins in those two road games. MU's potential seeding in the Big Dance will drop based on the losing streak, it is not in danger of missing the Big Dance.

Enjoy the roller coaster ride, fellas. This time of year is why we watch hoops.

Keep the faith!

Go Warriors!
