Haha phrasing could have been better. More like he looks big in TV and was as advertised in person. Additionally he was a very affable guy  8-)

There’s a story of Els letting a young Adam Scott fly with him.  Els brought out 2 bottles of Johnnie Walker Black saying it was a bottle flight.  Scott got so drunk, his dad confronted Els who called Adam “soft”.

BMW scoring is like a US Open.     Great prep for Winged Foot.     Deep rough.    Narrow fairways.    Rock hard greens.    If the rain misses the course, I don't know if anybody finishes under par.

Try as I might, I can never get into the PGA's "playoffs."

I guess they are kind of "ruined" (in my mind, anyway) by the knowledge that every single one of those guys would trade the FedEx title just to win one of the majors.

I have watched the highlights of the first 2 rounds of the BMW, however, and it has been fun to see Olympia Fields kick the greatest golfers in the world's butts.

Yep ... and still I think if you asked the 50 best players in the world (or more) if they’d rather win the fedex or the Masters, every single one would say the Masters. Definitely the US Open, too. Maybe some would choose fedex over the PGA Championship. Maybe a few Americans would choose it over the British.

Unbelievable. That was an incredible 20 minutes of golf, two best players in the world hitting impossible putts. That felt like a privilege to watch.

Friend of mine is a member at Glen Oak, he said Els played there today and shot a course record 61 (he bogeyed 18). Ernie is playing a charity event at Rich Harvest tomorrow.

just played glen oak saturday.  my bro in law, a long time member told me the same story.  he had something like 21 putts.  incredible.  their greens, although not the fastest i've played, are very tricky and you have to know them...unless you're ernie, i guess.

LPGA allowing the use of carts for all during practice rounds of ana inspiration.  then allowing caddies to use carts, or push carts during championship, but players will have to walk.  extreme heat, 105-115 is forecast at mission hills

i've golfed(riding in a cart) in 105/106 Az heat, but not 4 days in a row plus practice rounds.

Going to the Garland Resort in Northern Michigan on T-W-Th.   Supposed to golf 90 holes in 3 days.   2 inches of rain forecast there between now and Thursday.    Grrrrr.

Went with 7 Lighthouse guys (MU roommates) last weekend to Geneva National.  Great setup, for 8 or 12 guys.  Two rooms on each floor (with 2 beds to a room), ping pong table, card table, area indoors large enough for regulation bags game, putting green immediately outside for both putting contests and bocce ball and 215 yards from the 18th green of one of the 3 courses they have, so we had contests hitting old crap balls to that green.   The courses are in good shape too.   Great way to have a reunion.

DJ's best is better than anybody else's right now.   But somebody else wins the Open.

90 holes, 3 days, temperature never above 52°.   Garland is tougher than Treetops.   Flatter.   Longer.  Lots of water

Not any time soon.   If/when his leg heals and if/when he can get back up to speed, then we'll see.

Unless you mean that the absence of Koepka will make it interesting.   Then, yes, his absence changes the vibe of the US Open.

Yea, I meant No Koepka in the field will add another element of intrigue and opportunity  given his recent success there.

Very entertaining win today by Sergio Garcia on the PGA Tour today. Nailed one to two feet on the 18th hole to win it and earlier hit a 260 yard fairway wood to a par 5 over a bunker for kick in eagle .

Sergio closed his eyes while putting all week and putted well. Claimed in an interview he was doing the same thing when he won the 2017 Masters.

Seemed like he was also hitting it much longer than the rest of the field. Maybe he is getting in form just in time for the fall Masters.

Got a tee time at Ravines (Cog Hill) tomorrow for $51. Just how hard is that course for anyone whose golfed there?

I just played Ravines on Saturday, hadn't been out there in about 5 years or so.  I wouldn't say it's overly difficult, specially if you play the correct tees.  I believe all the par 3's have forced carries over ravines and there are a handful of other forced carries.  It can be a bit narrow in spots, but you even w/ that not anything that's too narrow.  There are 2 holes where you need to be smart off of the tee - #'s 10 & 12 I believe - the fairway ends and it's better to take less than driver or an iron.

It was in great shape on Saturday so hopefully it still is!

MU11W nailed it, play the correct tees and you’ll have a good time.

What do you actually hit your 5 iron? Not your best, but actual average yardage? Times that number by 36 and that’s the total yardage you should be looking to play.

Haven’t played Ravines in two years, but it’s a great piece of the property that rewards thought and shotmaking.

Finau last week.

Wow I missed Finau completely.

DJ is not a shocker, Austin probably had to explain Covid to him.
