I agree Markus for SOTG, but he most definitely forced a good many shots.

We're gonna have to disagree here. If you compare last night to the typical Markus game, he deferred to others FAR more than he typically would, and he didn't take any shots that he doesn't take virtually every game.

Imagine how quickly you'd vote for any other player who did what Markus did in that game.  It's Markus
This x10000. Fire this award into the sun if Markus doesn't get it.

This award is Stud of the Game, not just MVP. Hell, Frozena even won once on a pity vote. Key contributors who stepped up are worthy of consideration and have won in the past numerous times. It’s not a slight to not pick Markus. The criteria is whatever mood Rocky wakes up in.

I'm pretty sure Frozena shared that one.

Another good team win with contributions up and down the roster. But Markus was the stud of the game -- and I don't think it was close. He was simply the best player on the court.

During Marquette's current three-game winning streak, Markus is averaging 36.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 2.7 turnovers per game. Total stud.

The stud of the game should be the player that was most critical in helping MU to victory. I rarely have disagreed with the selections by the admins. A key contributor that gets the honorable mention is a player that outplayed their usual expectations.

In this case, Sacar scored more than he normally does. But his production was not that of Markus. Jamal contributed much more than he normally does as well. Does that mean Jamal Cain was the stud of the game? Absolutely not. He played above his norm. Something to be recognized but not to go overboard making a different choice for the sake of it. It's like giving Alex Caurso sotg when he drops 15 and 8 despite Lebron posting a triple double.

I don't disagree that others are playing well, and playing hard in these games.  But Markus is still outscoring everyone, while simultaneously drawing more defenders and helping others get easier shots.  It's really incredible.

Enjoy it while it lasts. This is what a first team All American and NPOY candidate does.
