Northwestern State post game interview

Tom Crean
- The crowd was a big factor in the run coming out in the second half.  When MU plays a little bit desperate they're good, and they need to figure out how to do that for longer periods of time.

- Marquette was over helping, so needed to bring the ball to the screen.  Guarded the 3 better in the seconds half.  Did things differently tonight that anytime else, and it ended up being efficient.

- Marquette was playing finesse for a while and NWS played their game.  MU needs to talk better, and play as if they're desperate.  Don't know if it's maturity or youth, but when Marquette plays like that (desperate) they're VERY good.

- Never really got some of NWS guys under control, but MU was able to defend, and control the backboards which was huge.

- Barro's confidence is great because he works hard, and his teammates want him to do well.  Compared his practices to RJax playing in the alley.  Back to back double-doubles is very impressive.  Had no right shoulder left hand move at all when he came to MU.  Coaches have done well teaching him.  Sat down with video today to show him where he could have scored more and what he could have done differently the past few games.  A lot of assists have gone to Barro because his teammates are looking for him.

- ND state has got a lot of attention since their win at Wisconsin.  They have the whole team back and played Texas Tech very close.  Good players all around, PG has Diener like qualities, efficient with motion offense and pick and roll.  They'll try to take the break away but Marquette needs to have an aggressive mindset.

- The Second half is the time to step up.  Need to play from the beginning to the end.  Maybe not points, but rather creating for others.  Ooze was a good beneficiary tonight.  Ooze said something to DJ in the locker room about owing him a steak dinner.

- Once ooze has confidence, he starts stepping up.  Need him to do that every night.  When he's putting up numbers, other teams start focusing their defense differently and opening up the perimeter.

- Need to continue to create offense off of defense and deflections.  They lead to easy baskets.

- Excited about playing against a PG that Crean compares to Travis.

- Had a chance to put NWS away in both halves, and they need to learn / continue to do that better.

- This is the first MU game on the radio in Richmond, was excited to have them listening again.
