Defensive strategy ..
« on: December 07, 2019, 10:37:35 PM »
Can wojo ever change our defensive look? We throw a soft 3/4 court press for a few possessions.  How about a matchup zone against a poor shooting team?  Ugh .. wojo so stubborn.

MU held them under 40%.  If the coach does not think our guys play those defenses as well then play to our strengths.

Our defense has rarely been the issue this year.

I agree with Chicos. K-State averaged 65 ppg against a soft schedule so far this year.  We held them to 65 despite conceding 30 fts.  That ft D continues to improve from last year.

He threw the 3/4 court press out there not to draw a TO, but to suck the clock more in a possession.  So it takes KSU 10-12 seconds to get into their offense.  They now have 18-20 seconds to get a shot.  They are a terrible offensive team and now that have a short amount of time to find a shot.

Great strategy and you can argue they should have used it more tonight.

Nah, Big Tuna just likes a specific kind of fishing, one that involves moving the boat slowly in one direction.

Remember the defensive sets we would use when we were trying to play Yousapha Mbao? Now that was something to complain about.

If your problem was the defense, may I recommend an optometrist?

Agree felt that during the game why not do it more??  With that said our half court defense press or no press wasnt the problem it was the damn fouls n turnovers

Overall don’t mind the defensive strategy, but can’t stand playing post defense directly behind the offensive player. A lot of our fouls come after  letting them get the ball in the post with no resistance and getting backed down. Would prefer we play to the side and at least somewhat deny the entry. Our fouling is out of control.
