Of course we did.  The team is a work in progress offensively that needs to find its identity.  Hard to overcome the unplanned loss of two significant starters that fast.  Not just about next man up.

Of course we did, especially Sam! You can't take a three year starter, and second leading scorer/rebounder, out of the lineup and not feel the effects. It was his decision to leave and not fulfill his commitment. I loved him as a player, and those boys come from a great family. However, I choose to focus on the guys that want to be at Marquette! We will have many better days ahead.

Would MU have won with Sam
Would MU won with Joey
Would MU have won with Sam and Joey.

Where's the comedians with the "Letter" jokes.

My goodness, it is just a fit of nausea with the same old context.  Will this continue after every loss for the next three years and will it be like the Tom Crean references 11 years after the fact?

Any team would miss the Hauser's.

The question is, can the team compensate and overcome it?

Agreed. Anyone who voted 'No' is voting with their heart and not their head. (Which is understandable).

Of course we missed what they could bring. They didn’t want to be here. It’s a stupid question. Let it go and roll with who’s here.

They don’t cross my mind while we’re playing. Again, f*ck em.

It's definitely gonna happen after every loss this year due to Sam.  'Tis life.

The offense has certainly been far less fluid and/or effective this year so far without the brothers.  That’s rather provable.

Shouldn’t the question be which version of the Hausers?  The ones down the stretch last year, no we didn’t miss that version.  The early and mid season version...yup.

So which one?

I seem to recall multiple games last year where there was no discernible flow to the offense.  And if I remember correctly there were Hausers playing in those games.

Thanks for the question. I'm so sick of the "We're so much more athletic" without the Hausers. "Team chemistry is so much better" You have the right to say good riddance, but you are ignorant if you say we are better without them. Yes Bailey is more athletic, probably a better defender but who is a better basketball player, more likely to help you win a game?

I'll type slower. Yes we are more athletic. We may or may not have better chemistry than the end of last year. We are a worse team without one or both Hausers. Difficult to go inside out when you have two fewer "out" options. See how Purdue defended Marcus. We are worse off this year. We will be worse off the next two years without Joey regardless of which scholarship player replacers him.  Izzo is not a fool. Joey will be a very good college BB player.

I think next year losing Markus, Sacar, Ed & Jayce will be very interesting with a potential starting lineup of Koby, Elliot, Cain, Bailey & Theo with no experience off bench. Almost gives you the chills thinking about it.

So which one?

This is exactly the question and answer.  The answer is no, if they had stayed and started how they finished.  The answer is yes, if that was a temporary blip and a summer together would have smoothed over the situation.  So, I go no, since they were not willing to work on it/work it out long term.

As an aside, the new Markus, who doesn't look for his shot as often, seems intentional. I don't like it.  He is too good to not be a ball hog and put up shots.  I think he has to be "running down hill" all the time to get into his groove.  There were a few times where he stepped behind a screener, had a moment and space and I expected him to let it rip...  but he didn't as he sees to be playing more within a team strategy.  Me no like. Markus needs a letter from teammates to tell him to be a ball hog, he is too good.

GOO

I think a big part of the new Markus is that he has to work harder to get his shots. Other teams are being more physical with him and we do not many playmakers to open things up. Like the Hausers or not, but other teams knew they had to guard them or they would hit the open shot. In addition, new Markus or not, he did hoist up 21 shots yesterday.

Voted no, as I don't think Joey would have been as much help as most might want.  Early in the season, turnovers and forced shots.  Sam?  He's very reliable and would have helped.  I like that you split this, but I think one more split down the middle.  Early Joey, more so, despite the TOs.  Late Joey, no way.  Early Sam, probably, and late same, probably.

I like this new team.  Koby is a huge asset.  Need someone else to be the "next man up."  I think it's going to be healthier Greg.  Also, Jamal seems to play his best with Greg on the floor.  Is that just me?

Last year against UW the Hauser bros combined for 28 points and 15 rebounds on 10-19 shooting (5-8 from three).  Yes, we could have used them.

Newsflash- we will miss them all year long.  We can try to act like they aren't good players to make ourselves feel good but that's not really the case.  They didn't want to be here, so let's just move on.

What!?!  He looks for his own shot first, second and third.  Yesterday it was harder for him to get the shots because they threw multiple defenders at him.  He took them anyway.  He rarely passes the ball except when he can't get a shot.

Yesterday he took 21 shots in 35 minutes and had 2 assists.  That's a guy looking for his own shot.  If his shots go down from last year, it will only because we have another guard who can handle the ball so he doesn't have the ball all the time.

That BB had sharp elbows and was tough as nails - and he could really shoot it. This one is still TBD but the early returns  are mixed at best. Hope he bounces back.

Well, IF the Hausers were still here, how many of the other players  would not have been here??   There was talk of 2 or 3 other players that were ready to leave, IF the Hausers returned.   I know from a a very good source, that Sacar would have left...  Just throwing that out there...  8-)

And yet some point to the fact that no other players leaving means chemistry is great and we now exclusively have the players who “want to be Warriors.”  The 2 or 3 guys who were going to leave stayed because the Hausers’ minutes opened up.  Let’s see how much Bailey wants to be a Warrior when he starts riding pine.

Tower has opined that had Joey and Sam stayed they would have been competing for minutes at the 4. I disagree, think we would have played "big" most of the time - Theo 5, Joey 4, Sam 3, Koby and Markus at guard with Sacar fighting Elliot for back up guards minutes. Given that scenario, I wouldn't have blamed him for leaving.

Anyone that thinks that Cain or BB were going to take minutes from Joey are delusional. Sam and Joey would have played the same, or more, minutes than last year.

Bailey and Cain should have taken minutes from Joey down the stretch last year.

And Wiscy had a better team last year than the current one that kicked our highly regarded teams ass.

Did Kentucky have a better team than Evansville?  Some of you amaze me.

Jamal played himself into a permanent spot on the bench last year.

Brendan had moments (on defense, anyway) but never looked comfortable offensively. So far that hasn't changed. Wasn't me who put Joey out there for almost 30 minutes a game,. Go ahead and rip Wojo if you want, but I think he was right. Watching Sacar and BB (he looks extremely uncomfortable out there) I have zero doubt Joey's minutes would actually be up this year.

On a small 3 game sample you are right. I still think Sacar will get it going. I have seen very little from BB that make me believe he will contribute meaningfully.

He might have a better chance to recover if this board would lay off for a while -- at least for a game or two.

Probably should let this season play out before we say that.

That's fair.

Do you ever truly miss someone who didn't want to be here?

The Wisconsin fans sure missed the Hausers.

You could hear them loud and clear at the Kohl Center late in the second half Sunday.
