Nevermind, we're using section 122!

I'm guessing a court will decide that tariffs that have already been in place for over 150 days will strike that down too.

Talk about flailing.

TallTitan34

And he just announced a 10% global tariff.

At least the Lutnick family is gonna make bank

Kavanagh's dissent, which earned mocking from even Roberts, is yet another example of how ill-suited he is for a seat on the court.

It's not hypocrisy if you just assume they rule for the individual, not the policy

Indeed. 1) Determine what you want the outcome to be, 2) try to come up with some legal justification afterwards.

Pure partisan unnatural carnal knowledgeery.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Thomas and Alito will always vote the way trump tells them to. Corrupt with no shame.

Kavanaugh is just too drunk to even know what he's voting on.

Wheeeeee!!!

So is the TACO trade in play?

So is the TACO trade in play?

Only my guess, but it looks a little different now.

The SC handed him a golden opportunity to get out of what was a disastrous policy both economically and politically, and he chose not to take it, and double down instead.

Part of it, from everything I've read, is that he has been fixated on tariffs since the '80s, and as we've seen his brain stopped taking in new information right about then. But I think it is more about power and money.

He uses tariffs as a cudgel to beat anyone that disagrees with him, and as a tool to pry out money and favors from others. If you are Tim Cook and give him a gold covered statue, you get an exemption; if you "donate" to his unnatural carnal knowledgeing ballroom, you get an exemption. If you say something mean (and accurate) about him, he'll double your tariffs.

But all of that will be on an individual basis--individual countries or individual companies-- which I think makes the broader TACO trade more difficult.

Sure, theoretically the Republicans in Congress could stop him and get out from this absolute losing position, but wake me up when that ever happens. Hell, less than 2% of the Republicans in the House were willing to force a vote against covering up pedophilia. I truly doubt they'll rise up against tariffs.

If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

I did a little buying today ... but, to answer your question, who knows?

Can someone find out from Goose if this is The Greatest Economy in the History of the World yet, or is that still on the horizon?

I think you made a good choice.  I was hanging on for better discounts and probably missed my window.

I was skiing in the afternoon and missed the 2nd buying opportunity.  10 vs 15% seems like a TACO win (though also likely illegal).

I love how Binance can't ever stop being a living avatar for the concerns and shadiness around crypto, even while being the largest most notable exchange and subject to the most scrutiny.

I've mentioned before that an acquaintance of mine (childhood best friend and best man in my close friend's wedding, I hung out with him a few times a year until he started at Binance) was an exec at Binance and whose brother was the CEO of Binance.US for a few years until CZ resigned/got arrested.  Then got moved quietly to an advisory role in the background. Both brothers had their contracts not renew mid 2025 and left promptly as a pardoned CZ installed his wife as CEO and shifted more Chinese leadership into place.

Amusingly, according to my buddy, they both are touting their departure to form this new venture cause of "untrustworthy" and illegal leadership stuff at Binance, loosely implying the greater Chinese influence...which conveniently ignores that the CEO brother got introduced to CZ/Binance and his role due to rising through the ranks at Ant Group (AliPay) and that well before CZ was arrested/resigned and things got truly dicey, my buddy had to send wedding invites to a random Nevada PO Box cause even he couldn't get mailing addresses for either of them.  And they worked for Binance.US which was supposedly clean and tidy due to Binance proper being banned in the US

"The easiest measure of this is in stock market performance. The US's benchmark S&P 500 index is now slightly negative on the year, bobbing tediously higher and lower in an unusually tight range since late December. Normally, this would reflect a global outbreak of nerves. This time, however, it's focused squarely on the US, due to stress in its prized tech sector and policy dysfunction. European and Asian markets are mostly doing just fine.

Global stocks, measured in the widely tracked MSCI World Index and skewed heavily towards the US, are up by 2 per cent so far in 2026. That's decent. But if you strip out the US, you're up a much rosier 9 per cent. The fact is, it has paid to give US markets a swerve right now. So far this year, they are a dud.

This is shaping up to be the worst year for US stocks compared with the rest of the world since at least 1995. It is not yet clear how meaningful the recent pullback in AI-related stocks will turn out to be, but the wave of nausea over the impact of AI on the wider tech sector is certainly helping to tilt the balance further from the US, and towards Europe."

I'm not going to overweight international in my portfolio, but I understand the people that have.

I added an international ETF last year and it has easily outperformed SPY. I know it's all cyclical, though.
