Up until this season, I thought Natisha Hiedeman was the only former Marquette player to play in the WNBA during the regular season/playoffs (there were some other former players drafted or on teams during preseason but never played in a regular season game).

I realized there's another former Marquette player in the WNBA now when watching Hiedeman play recently.  Camryn Taylor who played two seasons at MU before transferring to Virginia has appeared in a couple games for the Minnesota Lynx this season.

Like Sam Hauser, she's an undrafted player out of MU (via Va) who didn't get much PT as a pro rookie. Hopefully she'll get a chance at a good run in future seasons.

Big East schedule was released yesterday:

They are back to a 20 game conference schedule where you do play everyone home and away.  They had only played 18 conference games for a few years.  They'll start conference play Dec 4th and have a few BE games mixed in with the rest of their non-conference games.

Biggest thing of note in the BE release is that all the conference tournament games will be on Peacock.  TV info for the regular season games will be announced later.

Excited to see Marquette play Wisconsin tomorrow for the first time since 2017.

And I see Chloe Marotta is calling the game on ESPN+ along with her sister Karley Marotta - that's kind of cool.

Hiedeman was at the game today and honored on the court at the end of the quarter.  MU had no business winning this one probably but pulled it out in OT.

Scary injury for Kennedi Perkins today - hope she's ok - never good to see a player taken off on the stretcher.

PointWarrior

according to this box score, it should not have went into overtime.

President Kimo mentioned being at the game at the Chicago alumni event last night, and got a big cheer. He said he was worried about being late for the 5 pm Mass but he ended not having to choose between staying and going.

We had dinner reservations that I moved back a bit when the game went to overtime :) .

Chloe Marotta who called the game with her sister Karley on ESPN+ never even faced Wisconsin in her career I realized last night when I watched the replay of the 4th quarter and overtime.  Consuegra mentioned wanting to continue the series in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article - hope that does happen.  For now, they will play in Madison next season and will see if they continue beyond that.  I know Wisconsin has been awful for a long time but I like the rivalry and well for this season at least they are playing a not very tough non-conference schedule so you may as well throw a rivalry game in there.

Abby Cracknell joined the wounded section of the team as she was on crutches and in a boot.  I saw in the Journal-Sentinel season preview article that frosh JJ Barnes and senior Aryelle Stevens are out for the season.

There was a good update on Kennedi Perkins in the Journal-Sentinel game article - happy to see that as that was a scary sight at the game.

Today starts signing period for class of 2026, ends 11/19, any information on signings and stats on that girl, please post.

The only information on a commitment so far is Carter. I'm concerned that there haven't been any more. I did a google search yesterday on the top 2026 Wisconsin girls, most have committed elsewhere to high D1 programs. MU loses a lot from this season due to eligibility. This is an important class. If we do not get top quality freshmen, Cara has to go to the portal with all its baggage.

That is the only player signed this fall which is concerning as you say.

Also concerning is the big blowout loss at Minnesota on Tuesday.  I'm not seeing this team as being 2nd in the BE right now.

Interesting match-up coming up in a couple weeks with Iowa State and facing former MU player Kenzie Hare.  But first they head across town to face UW-Milwaukee - a team they should beat but you just never know what will happen.

Agree with your post, but we have injuries. Barnes and Stevens out for season. Abbey , I understand, broken bone, out at least 8 weeks. I was told last week that Perkins was going to be OK, but she's missed last two games. Assume concussion protocol. Iowa State gonna be a challenge. Have Crooks , she had 43 against Valpo the other night. I hope they can at least win the second game against Indiana or Gonzaga.

Yes but I don't think these injuries alone account for the blowout at Minnesota.  They also didn't play very well against UW and were fortunate to pull that one out in OT.  We will see what happens. The BE is very weak this year after UCONN - there are no other teams projected to go dancing from the conference right now.

Crooks had 43 against Valpo in only 20 minutes of action too - quite impressive.

UConn women entered game averaging 89.8 ppg. We held em to only 89!!!!

The women are easily winning the games they should and knocked off a P4 opponent. 2-0 in the Big East too!

The men should buy them beers.

A frustrating game to watch Monday versus St. John's where they missed way too many bunnies and let a very winnable game slip away.

Good news is the next game out was at one of the worst teams in the league - Xavier.  Despite Skylar Forbes missing the game for illness and MU having over 20 turnovers, they picked up the win today.  MU owned the boards and Vice had a great game with 20 points and 19 rebounds.

A tough Villanova team comes to town Sunday - hoping Forbes is able to play in that game.

Maybe it's time to move this thread to the AL so we can discuss some really decent basketball.

What happens at the Superbar, stays at the Superbar.  This is the place to talk about anything non-bball related, like jobs, technology, food & drink on campus,  naked beer slide strategy, recent events, etc.

I guess the MODS think Marquette Women's Basketball is not really basketball.
