I'll show my age by asking a question: Is this considered a big deal? Like getting the Stones to Madness during Al's time?

T-Pain was big when I was at Marquette but that was ten years ago. Unsure now.

Although that would make for one of the more memorable Marquette Madnesses....

T-Pain's autotune app for the iPhone set records about ten years ago.  I seem to recall (though can't confirm) in 2009 or 2010 nearly 80% of iPhones in use had downloaded the app (granted this would have been during the early adopter stage).

He also won the first season of Masked Singer (US version) earlier this year.

Sure, he's no Drake, but MU isn't going to shell out six figures to bring in A-level talent.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I guarantee you've heard his stuff.

As for it being a big deal, I'm not 18-20, so I'm not sure, but he's one of the most insanely prolific songwriters/performers of the modern era.  He has 20 top 25 singles, he basically singlehandedly brought Autotune to the mainstream as an artistic device instead of a crutch, and also wrote/produced another 20 songs you have likely heard on the radio or in public.  He's been quiet recently, but I guarantee every student there goes crazy to a few of his songs.

His NPR Tiny Desk performance is fantastic if you're into that sort of thing.  It was basically "those who think I can't sing without Autotune, you'd be absolutely wrong"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIjXUg1s5gc

He's a great performer and is a good get IMO.

In the last two years, Marquette hosted BoB and T-Pain. Wish i had these lineups in 2011 and 2012.

Yeah, and there were kids in the 80's who wished they had brought Springsteen to campus.
Have some patience, FFS.

I was probably a little too harsh on the music last year. I think T-Pain is a nice get. I think the Lonely Island has helped his relevance.

You also had to deal with the your hoops season going deep into March.  Ugh.

Saw T Pain at the Rolling Stone Super Bowl Party a few years ago.  He was with Migos and 21 Savage and yet he still stood out.  Great show.  He brought it.

Anyone know if they check your student ID at the door because my son wants to go and he’s in high school and we could get tickets through a student there
