[Cracked Sidewalks] Maryland & Temple Previews
« on: September 16, 2019, 06:29:39 AM »
Marquette's third game in Orlando could see them playing either Maryland or Temple, two teams that seem to be headed in the opposite direction. While Maryland is looking to build on a 6-seed with a preseason top-10 ranking, Temple will be hoping to get back into the bubble conversation after snagging one of the final NCAA bids a year ago.

Would like to see how we fare against a team like Maryland that has its fair share of pogo sticks
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Today we eat Turtle Soup! Two things to know about Maryland: one, like USC, they play fast, & two, they are worse than Davidson defending the three while allowing opponents to take a lot of threes.

Like MU (except USC), they start slow and do better in the 2nd.  Tight match-up.

I'll be curious to see how they respond if we are able to punch them in the mouth and establish a lead. They responded against Rhode Island, Temple, & Harvard, but those teams don't defend as well as we do & Maryland isn't a great three point shooting team (beyond Cowan) so if we can turn it into a shooting contest that benefits us.

Should be a really good game, while they are ranked 5th, they haven't played a top-70 kenpom team yet. Big opportunity.
