This reminds me and is likely related to the spirit shop selling last year's jerseys for $36 on the discount rack!  (50% off $70 plus tax)

Was there Saturday and they still had maybe 30-40 jerseys sizes XL-XXL.

Are you saying they only have XL-XXL left or are you implying anyone on Scoop would require an XL-XXL so those are the only sizes that matter?

Good.  While I enjoyed this set as part of Marquette Basketball's 100th anniversary, which brought together elements from various eras of the program, the current uniforms are so isolated and individualistic from Marquette Athletics current branding that it might as well be its own thing.  If you look at other programs under the athletic department, they all incorporate our word marks, our logos and have a sense of symmetry.  Heck, there is little-to-nothing to do with our own court design.

Our 2007-2016 uniforms were more aligned with our athletic branding, IMO.  I would like to see a various/modernization of those sets.

Uh, they haven't revealed the new uniform designs yet. Unless you find the whole idea of uniform design boring. Or perhaps you're predicting the response of at least half this board -- whatever the new design is.

These current uninforms have been some of the most dull and boring unis I have personally ever seen MU wear.(not including champ blues). Would gladly welcome a change. Would be very hard to make them worse.

It says “uniform changes” for the next 2 seasons. Could be entirely new uniforms or as simple as decluttering the shoulders of the current uniforms.

Perhaps MU/Wojo should instruct Nike to contract with a true Warrior, Bo Ellis, to design new unis suitable for an NCAA title run. It worked out pretty well the last time.

sort of a shame, they finally added real horizontal stripes to the baby blues, was hoping it was a sign of a small but better addition like when they added a couple minor changes to the old jerseys in 2012. But still looking forward to the new design

I was thinking this is what the "changes" are.  We saw the more pronounced stripes on the jersey with the "championship" blues and everyone seemed to love it.  The post says "changes to the uniform."  If they were completely new uniform designs I would think the post would've said "new uniforms."

Can we lose the NASCAR look?  Do we need a logos for Jordan, US Flag, Al & Big East?

The flag and Al need to go.

I agree. I wouldn't mind losing the Big East one either, though I'm sure the league has a rule on that.

My requests would be:
- Make the horizontal stripes on the navy jerseys gold
- Make the horizontal stripes on the gold and white jerseys a little more prominent like they did on the baby blues last year
- Take off flag, leave AL, Jordan, and Big East
- Update side stripes just to keep it fresh
- A throwback jersey now and then

Do we really need the AL? I mean it's on the court, he has a whole practice facility, he has a game day, idk it just seems a bit like overkill at a certain point.

The current jerseys are close to looking great.

All the striping in the side panels needs to be larger and more spaced out. It comes off as grey instead of blue with gold stripes. The stripes are too fine to even notice when watching on TV, or even the upper deck.

The white jerseys could use some gold number and letter outlining. The jerseys don't feel like Marquette jerseys without gold in them. I'd add navy outlines to the baby blue jerseys, too.

I'd also prefer different colored collars along the arm and neck holes. But I guess that's not the modern style.

I'm with you. AL is everywhere on campus and in our program (as he should be). He doesn't need to be on the jerseys. It was fine in the couple years after he died, which is when I think it originally got put on there.

I'd also like to see the official wordmark not on the jerseys and instead just using block letters like the old baby blues back n 2010, or maybe have some fun and have the font from the baby blue road uniforms from the early 70's.  "Marquette" back to above the numerals too.

Do we really need the AL? I mean it's on the court, he has a whole practice facility, he has a game day, idk it just seems a bit like overkill at a certain point.

We play road games, too.  I get the point, but just like the Bears still have GSH on their uniforms, it doesn’t bother me and often elicits conversation on TV.  Good way to keep the name alive.

Duke, UNC have the American flag on them.  Wisconsin doesn’t and that alone is why we should keep it.

Right but you don't see UCLA with Wooden on their jerseys, Ville with Crum, UConn with Calhoun etc etc.

There's plenty of legendary coaches that have won more than AL that don't have their names on the team jersey.

The American flag doesn't make sense to me on the jerseyZ But I enjoy the humor in your logic.

I think the flag was just to incorporate the 01-03 unis which had the flag after September 11th.   No reason to keep it.

I get the Big East logo. Marquette is one of 10 conference members (out of 350+ Division I schools), and it helps promote the Big East -- especially on TV, like when players are at the free throw line. It's a unique identifier, and part of the MU brand.

I get including "Al" for the same reason. More than 40 years after his last game as head coach, Al McGuire still represents what the Marquette basketball program stands for. "Al" is one of a kind in Division I. It speaks to our tradition. Some might even say Al McGuire is the MU brand.

You can't say the same for the American flag. Every single university that competes in Division I is an American university. So it doesn't promote anything unique about Marquette. Should we also find room for the Wisconsin state flag on the uniform? How about the flag of Milwaukee? We'd better make sure everyone knows Marquette is an NCAA institution; one more logo to include. Then there's the glaring omission of "JN" -- the initials of James Naismith, inventor of the game of basketball. And "SJ" to acknowledge that Marquette is a Jesuit university. Oh yeah, how could we forget...

How's that, Jay Bee? Or, we could make it even bigger if we turn it sideways.
