I just don't understand.  Why?  Sam played 34 minutes a game, and Joey 29.  Both were major parts of the team.  Maybe they both were a little fed up with watching Markus huck up 30 shots a game, but enough for Sam to go sit out a year in order to play in an unknown system?  For Joey to blow 25% of his eligibility?

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. They must really, really, really hate Wojo.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Mike Deane's Seat Belt

perhaps we could tempt some hard nosed ball players from UWL or UWSP to come our way now?

Felt like Joey was never happy

Yep, between his body language and facial expressions was not hard to miss.  Wonder if this was brewing the previous season.

Maybe this is dumb, but is it a sure thing that the Hausers are a package deal and sure to transfer to the same school? Their situations are pretty different.

If it's Virgina I don't see how they possibly could be a package deal.

Joey isn't blowing anything.  I can't imagine he'll have any difficulty whatsoever getting a medical hardship waiver to play a fourth season.  Unless there is some rule that I'm not aware of, it seems like an absolute no-brainer.

Consider that coaching is the problem.

I hate even bringing this topic up today, but is Markus eligible to grad transfer (if he were to decide to)?

I'm well aware that conventional wisdom on this board is that we were never "really" a Top 10 team this year.  But, we were.  Twice.  You can look it up.  And I'm sure Sam and Joey remember that.  So, they've seen first hand what can happen to a "Top 10" team when there is dysfunction.  In my opinion, the inescapable conclusion is that they believe that there is something broken in the program and they have no faith that Wojo can or will fix it.

This sucks so bad.  Last week I was definitely not in the "fire Wojo" camp because I felt it had been a pretty good year (notwithstanding the train wreck at the end) and because the program was trending upward.  It doesn't appear to be trending upward any more.
Well said. This is symptomatic of deeper issues. Players in their situation, particularly Sam's don't make decisions like this because they want the ball more.

If the BOT had any balls they would have kicked Wojo to the curb after losing to Murray St. For me, its not about losing the Hausers, but rather the fooked up mess this program is in with Wojo.
BTW, y'all should not belittle those on this board who bring inside info just because you don't want to believe it. There is/was between the Hausers and Howard.

Coaching is why Joey got blown by every single athletic player he went against??

The rest of the team was defensively coached pretty well.

And again, if Bennett couldn't get shayok to play better defense what's to say he can get Joey to not be awful?

Potentially blowing 25% of his eligibility who have been a better way to phrase that.  He come to Marquette full well knowing he was using a year of eligibility when he could not play.  Who knows what kind of flexibility the NCAA will have with that situation.

Med waiver isn't the issue, 5 year rule waiver is. You have to miss 2 years due to circumstances outside of your control to get the waiver. He's got 3 years left of eligibility, but only 3 years left to use them.

My guess is he thinks he'll go pro early t

The one way Marquette comes out of this looking okay is if David Hauser pulled a Tim Maymon.

Apparently, Mr. Hauser followed Michigan St. and then immediately deleted his Twitter account.

He's 100% right. Beyond losing Sam and Joey's talent, look at what this transfer says about Wojo's program.

Yeah, and Wojo calling him out in the press earlier this year was likely a sign that he wasn't.

I'm guessing this is about Joey's NBA dreams.  Sam was on this team for 3 years (all with Markus), and he and his family liked Wojo well enough after his freshman year to convince Joey to come to MU in the first place.  But Joey had a disappointing year (in his eyes, at least), and sees his draft prospects dimming if things play out for him similarly next year.
