Driving playlist
« on: April 12, 2019, 09:08:24 AM »
Do you have a Corvette, Porsche, Miata, or slammed civic with an old skateboard posing as a spoiler or some other car that you like to take on twisty back roads?

If you do, the growl, purr, or tin sounding reverberation of a coffee can exhaust is probably music to your ears.  But what about those times when you want to drop the top, open the windows, or remove the plastic taped over the broken window and crank the stereo to some true driving music?  The kind of music that doesn’t work on the long straightaways of the interstate, but really gets your blood flowing as you get on the gas while exiting a sweeping curve.

For those times, what songs really get you going?  The kind of music that helps to hype up the driving experience and helps you lose yourself in the moment of man (or woman) and machine?

I’m looking to build an ultimate driving playlist for a long drive through the kettle moraine.  Unfortunately, I’m not the best at remembering song titles and artists.  Thus, I need help!

What songs do you think are great for a long day of “spirited” driving through the twisty back roads?

When it comes down to start making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

We have a Miata, and I have a playlist that consists mostly of classic rock anthems.  When I get home, I can post the complete list, but here are a few to get you started:

Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne
Frankenstein by Edgar Winter Group
Low Rider by ZZ Top
Ain't Talking 'Bout Love by Van Halen
Hocus Pocus by Focus (my personal favorite)

Have some patience, FFS.

Radar Love was the first song that occurred to me.   Then Life in the Fast Lane.   Bullet with Butterfly Wings.  (Smashing Pumpkins)   Boys of Summer.

I usually throw on CD's.   Remember those?    Joshua Tree, Songs of Experience.   Bat out of Hell.   Babel (Mumford and Sons)   Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams, Home, Live at the Pabst by the BoDeans.   Hamilton.    Secret World Live.   Legend.   Wrecking Ball, The Rising, Greatest Hits by Springsteen.     Anything by Great Big Sea or Gaelic Storm.    American Idiot.    Girlfriend by Matthew Sweet.  Graceland.    Robbie Robertson.

And if you want to slow it down in between songs, my go to is "Bad" by U2.

"Sweet Emotion" was the #1 song I had and fits exactly what I am looking for (although I'm open to other genre's too, really any and all suggestions).

Also had "I want you to want me," "Sympathy for the devil," "all summer long," and "All night long"

Low rider is a cool option, but don't think it fits the bill.  Maybe in the garage while uncovering the car and starting it up while telling myself I'm a baaaad man.     ::)

I drive a '14 Mustang convertible with a CD player.  Every Tuesday afternoon I rent CDs from the public library.  Currently I have VH's Diver Down, the Best of Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, and Kiss' Destroyer.  Each is fantastic for driving.

Pretty Woman with the Intruder intro is a damn good choice.

I've never seen that before.  That's awesome.  "What'd you do, hit her over the head with it?"

Joshua Tree is the greatest album ever. And anything that Robbie Robertson has done solo - they are all great.

All AC/DC works while driving.
