I'd say oversimplifying since they have 3 #1 seeds this year. I wonder if ND hoops would be better still in the Big East. Football wouldn't allow that though.

Northwestern Football actually has value added to its Big Ten brethren . They serve as an unofficial home away from home gain for most teams in the league . So people in Chicago actually touch and feel that program . And of course who could ever forget the old name of their field...
