Not MU postgame related, but Crean gave a weird press conference answer.

Not a very good look.

Yikes! That must make his players feel pretty special.

The mother of one of his players roasted him on Twitter earlier today, as his comments are gaining more attention.  Would not be surprised to see an exodus of veteran players from the program.  That one will be a long-term build, but Crean got a long-term contract, so he's got time.

When Buzz got hired at VT, nearly half of the team left/transferred.  When Wojo got here, only Mayo left (but Burton left during the season).  Regardless of which path a coach takes, they need to be clear and communicative with the players at the start.  Regardless if Crean feels this way, it is extremely poor form to make these comments public.  You do the best with what you have, until you can build a roster of "your" guys.

And Mayo " left" because he disappeared for the summer and nobody knew where he was......so Wojo suggested to him that it might be time to turn pro........

Definitely a bad look for Crean.......nobody expects you to win this year anyway so just take the hit until you get the players you want.

+1

Recognize they are probably good kids and not at the talent level he needs.  That's not their fault.  They should not have been recruited to an SEC school.

He cannot sprinkle fairy dust on them and make them AA caliber players. So what is he trying to accomplish with these comments?

Does he want more players throwing potted plants at him like year 1 at IU?

If he chose to keep them, which he did he should support them n not throw them under the bus.  He didnt do that his first year ir two at IU or Marquette.  Problem is he gas become so much more of an ass over time that this is barely even news worthy.
Tom Crean doing a horrible job coaching, all the while being a boorish prick...thats a daily occurance

All interesting stuff with Crean. Very d-baggy thing to say about kids on your roster. It's OK to think it because it's true, but to publicly throw them under the bus ... wow.

Obviously didn't hurt him landing that 5-star recruit. The kid sounds a little Henry-like: will immediately become the unquestioned star on a rebuilding team with the idea that he'll go pro after one year. The test for Crean will be if he can do what Wojo has done to build on that. He certainly might be able to, as he has a track record now of rebuilding programs.

Crean will make UGA competitive but not ultra successful. The man is a good not great coach.

At the end of the day he is a f#cking tool of a human being.

One of my favorites is how he ran over to Bobby Knight after a game and Knight snubbed him. F#cking priceless.

The Bronze Beast of Bloomington Arrogant A$$wipe of Athens is a silly little man who doesn't get that at a visceral level people think he is an absolute joke.

Interestingly, Tony La Russa really likes both Knight and Crean. At least it's interesting to me. All 3 are tools, of course ... but 2 of the 3 actually have accomplished something in their respective sports and eras.
