FF food vendors
« on: November 27, 2018, 09:31:05 AM »
Only been to the FF once and didn't eat, but probably will have to tonight.   How are the vendors?   Soblemans actually legit Sobleman's?   Like, would they cook me a medium rare burger?   What about any of the others?   Hidden gems? Any to avoid?

I was disappointed by Sobelmans the one time I went, but was stale and burger was overcooked.

Nothing is cook to order regardless of venue

So far I've tried the grilled cheese (okay) and the pizza (terrible).  Plan is to try a different stand at each (weeknight) game.

I had the pizza. I thought it was fine. I had a brat, I thought it was fine.  :)

Oh god, that grilled cheese was the worst experience in my life.   On that day anyway.

Pizza seemed decent to me though and sobelmans, while no comparison to the real thing, is much better than most burgers you get in an arena/stadium setting I think.  That is mostly due to the bun being higher quality/toasted and somewhat better burger patty.

Haven't eaten there yet, but heard good things about Iron Grate BBQ

The pizza wasn't bad. Iron Grate is also pretty good. Obviously not as good as the original, but that's to be expected.

The crispy pretzel bites were my biggest letdown so far. They taste like the Snyder pretzel nuggets warmed up.

Tried the street tacos.  Compared to the real thing, not good.  Relative to usual stadium fare, not bad.  So OK, overall.

In other words, I'd call them typically passable.

Agree.  Very disappointing.  I haven't been to Sobleman's proper, and my experience at FF makes it less likely.

It's a good burger at the restaurant. Nothing that's going to change your religion or anything, but the stadium version is probably a bad comp.

Yeah.  In my opinion, the quality of the burger went down when the popularity skyrocketed, but since they've opened 3 or 4 new locations it has gone back up.  I find it to be the 3rd best burger in Milwaukee behind Jake's Burgers and Oscar's Pub.  Elsa's is decent too.

Dude, stop talking about Oscar's. You're going to kill the speediness before a game in there.

Their fries are phenomenal.

(I really don't think Oscar's is ever going to blow up.  Not entirely sure why, but part of it is location.  Even before Brewers games, and before they opened a second location closer to Miller Park, I believe they had a shuttle to and from Miller Park and it still wasn't overcrowded.  Could be wrong on the shuttle part though.)

Big fan of Oscar's, but my vote for best burger goes to the Blackjack at the Potowatomi Fire Pit.

Had Shake Shack today. Meh, small burgers, dirty tables, bad service. Free shakes or not I doubt I'll be back.

So how are free shakes redeemed at Shake Shack? Do you just show your e-ticket?

I showed my paper ticket. I'm sure the e-ticket would work the same.

Kind of funny, e-ticket. My dad's boat in the 1980s was named E-Ticket Ride. It took me years to understand, though now the meaning would be completely different.

:(   I'll miss that little bar and how convenient that location was. I hope they still have Cheese Curd Fest.
