Is Assembly Hall a tough place to play?  Will they blitz other good teams there?

Or does Marquette just suck because they played a bad game in November?

As has been noted, its not just the loss but the dimension of the loss and how we played.

Only 1 for Marquette.  Unless there is a rematch in the NIT.

Assembly Hall has always been a tough venue especially if a team hasn't played there before.

They'll lose a couple. Michigan, Purdue, Michigan State, Ohio State, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin all headed in there. Think they lose 2-4.

Updating this bizarre poll/topic.

#217 UT Arlington lost by 14 at IU
#248 UC Davis lost by 14 at IU

I therefore take comfort in our 16 point loss at IU.  A lot of teams will get beat at IU.

Because Archie wasn't using those games to see what he has.

But you've played high school ball. So you know better than me. Rotations need to be consistent. No time early in the year to experiment with different lineups and different players in different rolls against lesser teams, right?

You do seem like the kind of guy who looks at margin of victory and comes to conclusions about how good teams are compared to each other.

Oh. The irony. You can't make this up.

Is there irony? I've been pretty consistent in saying a 1 point loss and a 52 point loss are an 0-1 record. So where's the irony, again?

Might want to figure out what irony means. Maybe that's the issue.

Mocking a guy for comparing margins of victory and then claiming that margin of victory doesn't matter... I'd say that's ironic. At least based on Alanis Morissette's definition.

That is quite literally the definition of consistency lol. Margin of victory is unimportant, so yes I'm going to mock someone who's claiming we need to worry because we lost by more than low majors did to IU.

Good effort though.

Xavier beat Illinois by 9.
Gonzaga beat Illinois by 6
Gonzaga beat Duke.
Ergo, Xavier is better than Gonzaga and Duke.

Because margin of victory or something.

If margin of victory is unimportant then Pomeroy and Sagerin are also. Their predictive model is based on it.

That was my original feeling on this poll and topic.  However, I wanted to keep an open mind and provide an update for all who voted in the poll.

Gonna get my popcorn ready and enjoy Wade's attempt to some how pretzel logic his way into saying your point isn't valid.

Says the guy using the transitive property to compare MU to UT Arlington and UC Davis. Good stuff as always Ners, something nobody on Scoop could understand because they didn't have a high school coach to teach them that one.
