Always interesting to me that people talk about the Chicago draw. How many city kids spend their life dreaming of going to a bufu town? I don't think the Illinois connection to kids in the state is as strong as say Wisconsin or Indiana.

That being said from 1981-2013 they had 25 appearances in 32 years, a few sweet sixteens and elite 8s with a FF, and a RU. Not exactly a blue blood era but it is success that most programs would wish for.
You hit a key point. Fightin Illini  built their success through consistency over time. Coach Underwood will get the program back on track.
The only mystery in life is why the Kamikaze Pilots wore helmets...

I think they might climb out this year. Leitao isn't a terrible coach, is starting to put together a more respectable roster, and teams like Seton Hall and Creighton could fall hard considering how much they lost.

Agreed, just took a look at Creighton's schedule, I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they entered conference play with 5 or more losses, then opened the BEast schedule 1-7, and finished with 5-6 conference wins.
