The Athletic is reporting that if no deal is reached by the end of Sunday, YTTV will issue $20 credit to customers - to be redeemed toward each customer's next statement.

Well shyte, that doesn't do he any good because I plan to cancel YTTV if they don't have a deal before my next statement comes due.

Thanks for this, signed up this AM for the MU game today and MNF tomorrow.

Im gone as soon as no packers game.

Just checking back in here.

YTTV gave me a 2 week credit the other day. Middle of the week. In order to get it I had to use their "chat" system. I received this in addition to the $20 that they are advertising as a credit. In order to receive a higher credit I need to go higher up than their initial chat level.

DirecTV gave me a free 15 day trial.

Google doesn't really care if people cancel because YTTV is such a minuscule part of their overall business. A million cancellations won't even be noticed on their bottom line.

A huge difference from when Disney had people canceling after the Kimmel thing.

So no packer game on youtubetv tonight. Looks like direct tv's online portal has completely crashed, only able to call now.

$20 credit on your next bill is bogus. Won't be a next bill if there's no Disney channels.

So what's the play if YTTV doesn't get this figured out?  Fubo is out (no Turner channels).  Sling orange and blue could work (and only $61/month after promotion).

Direct TV stream could work, but you need Choice to get TruTv ($94.99/mo).  If FS2 is required (no Marquette games, but potential "starting on FS2" ... would also be on Fox app then) then Ultimate at $124.99 is needed (at that point, might as well do YTTV and ESPN stream service)

Other options?

charter a flight to every game? Seems like the cheapest option at this point.

I'm sticking with YTTV. I can just buy ESPN direct for the college football playoffs, but after that I can live without ESPN for months.

Will HBO Max carry the TruTV and TNT games?

Yes, that would work for those channels.

In fact (looking at the calendar), by the time of the 2026 final 4 I'll probably have cancelled YTTV and just use Max for the games.

If the channel needed is on sling, they have an option for $4.99 for 24 hours. I used it to watch the Packers game last night.

I'm leaning toward this, at least in the short term. I'm in a DirecTV trial now, but I much prefer YTTV's DVR. The $20 credit toward the next YTTV bill would pay most of the $30 for a month of ESPN, and maybe I can finagle another discount from YTTV by complaining like bluebodega did.

Otherwise, I might give Hulu live TV a try. I've got time to decide.

I have Hulu live.  It will be going to about 95/mo shortly.  They force you to buy ESPN+ so I will only have to add Peacock soon for 8/mo.  I think that gets me every game.

I think they will be charging extra for ESPN+ in 2026.

Hah, well true.  My biggest complaint in the "old days" was that I couldn't get certain channels / games without signing a 2 year contract with some satellite company.  That's all gone away now, so I *try* to pay my fair share.  Though there are still occasions when I need to look up a link on the internet :)

Did the 5 day trial of DTV, and it was pretty solid.  YTTV UI, multi-view and DVR still light years ahead IMO.

DTV is offering their first month for $50 (normally $105), if this debacle is not settled, may sign up on Dec. 6th to get CFB championship weekend, CFB quarterfinals, X-Mas days NBA games, CFB quarter finals and other bowl games, then either Sling Pass daily for CFB semi's and the final game (or in a perfect world its settled by then).

Guess we'll see.

Dumb question (I'm full of 'em), but.. can you easily stream Peacock on your phone? I'm subscribed to the cock but haven't ever tried to stream on phone.. 1pm CT tipoff, but I have a men's double tourney that starts at 2:30pm CT. Will be tough to watch once the tourney starts, but could up until first match... alternatively, could try and wait to see anything about the game until watching it at night.. replays are on Peacock right away or no??

Agree with your assessment of the relative merits of DTV and YTTV. My trial ends today. I think your plan for December is solid. I'm looking into various options myself.

Peacock streams well for me on the phone.
