Nice to see this side of Wojo.

I wish he could show some of his personality during TV interviews.
Have some patience, FFS.

I say this as a staunch Wojo supporter but after only 1:30 in i can't help but think that Wojo ABSOLUTELY needs to either a) only speak behind a solid podium, b) only be shot from the waist up, or c) get a tailor who knows how to fit a pair of suit pants.

Is he wearing a cup? Is that a male CT?  WTH?!?!

Great speech. Thoughtful, genuine and spoken from the heart. Seeing this gives you an idea of the impression Wojo must make on recruits. I'd run through a wall for this guy if I was on his team. Also a reminder of just how many people are part of building a strong program. Thanks for posting.

As Wojo matures as a head coach, I want to see more of that.  No, I don't want Xs and Os to be given away but seeing his humor and genuine caring for the people, the program and the university is so very nice to see.

I felt the same way watching this.  Awesome stuff!  I feel like I've only known a robotic, defensive coach the last few years.  Seeing this light, vulnerable side of him (and pretty damn funny personality) was pretty cool.  Thanks for posting the video.

The whole thing's worth watching. But my favorite part is when he talks about Chris Carrawell. I had to watch it several times:

"I believe when used the right way, the ball has magic in it. Maybe the most magical power it has is the power to connect. Oftentimes, it connects people that wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to learn about each other, to grow together, and to ultimately, and most importantly, forge a lifelong and true friendship.

Chris is as true and loyal a friend as I've ever had. His leaving reminds me that in 20 years, if my players can feel the same thing about one another that Chris and I feel about each other, then we did the most important thing we're supposed to do as coaches."

That's as good a quote as any I've ever read from Al McGuire.

Well said Marcus.

It's easy to get caught up in the wins and losses and lose sight of the bigger picture.

Proud to have Wojo as our coach

Wojo was very good at the 100th ball event as well. I really found him to be more likable last summer after the event. I wish he showed this side of himself more often. Comes across very well in the video.

I thought yesterday's panic-induced thread about Howard was the 'scoopest thing I'd ever seen.

And now this.  'Scoop never ceases to amaze/horrify me.

Back when I was a newspaper hack (instead of the regular hack I am today), I used to get asked all the time if so-and-so was a "good guy" or a "bad guy."

My standard response was that for most people, we didn't know because we only got to see a small sample of what the person was like.

There is a reason Wojo has been an effective recruiter, and it has nothing to do with the guarded, sometimes robotic public image he usually displays.

The side we see in this video is more likely the side the recruits see. It's OK that he doesn't bring it out too often publicly. He needs to respond to each individual situation the way he is most comfortable doing.
