Wojos career summer...
« on: March 21, 2018, 11:52:24 AM »
I think this summer will define Wojos career at MU.  He has amassed some pretty decent talent and is set up for at least two seasons of very successful basketball.  With one massive glaring weakness...no PG.  Wojo needs to sign a grad transfer PG this summer or all this talent is a total unrealized waste.  He also needs to sign a traditional transfer PG for the next season or a big time hs senior pg, which im nit sure exists at this point.  The next month or two i truly belive will define Wojos legacy at MU

While I agree with you that all of those things would be great and will shape the type of success we have over the next 1-2 seasons, I don't think it will define Wojo's tenure at MU. I think we're entering year 5 of a 12-15 year project, which will culminate in a serious multi-year title push with a perfect storm type roster

Think Jay Wright adding Brunson & Bridges to a loaded Josh Hart-led roster in his 15th year at the helm

...or Mark Few adding his first 5* Zach Collins with major impact transfers Jordadn Matthews & Nigel Williams-Goss in year 17 of his tenure after years of early tourney flame-outs

...or Bo Ryan adding Dekker/Koenig/Hayes in years 12 & 13 of his tenure while Frank Kaminsky simultaneously blew up out of nowhere (after years of early tourney flame-outs)

Early success is definitley preferred to later success. But I think regardless of what plays out the next month or so in PG recruiting, the foundation is being laid for the next decade, not the next year or 2. I'm a long term bull, and I'm gonna enjoy the ride.

Handle, distribute, and stay in front of his man on defense and we have a top 30 minimum team.

LOL, yes that's the minimum amount of time required to properly judge. Why do you think he was at Duke from 1999 to 2014? Just wanted to give everyone a chance to properly eveluate his chops as an assistant.

That means we have to suspend the "Crean sucks" comments since we're limited to the years before 2003.
