The Big East name means nothing now. The value was not in the name, but the value of the institutions within it. That's gone now.

Sorry for the double post.

This is just ignorant. The Reigning National Champion resides in the Big East.

Two Big East teams have been in the Top 10 nationally this season and will be competitive for Final Four berths .
We're hoping seven (that's "7" for you Dayton Grads, the number after six but before eight) Big East teams, 70 percent of all the conference's members make the NCAA tournament. We fully expect at least six teams will go, or 60 percent of our members.'

Even our lowly teams are up and coming programs. As much as we like to make fun of DePaul (and we do, trust me), there is hope that DePaul, St. John's and Georgetown -- our doormats -- are improving substantially. Put Georgetown in the A10 and they're a competitor for the automatic NCAA berth. Put 'em in our conference and guess what, they're an also-ran.

Yes, we wish the conferences had not realigned. We loved playing and often beating Notre Dame. Louisville, Cincinnati, UConn, West Virginia and Syracuse were fun games to attend and had us sitting on the edge of our seats. We loved the Huggie Bear, even if we said we hated him. But these schools departures happened and we haven't missed a beat. And guess what -- we don't have the problem of a school providing ladies of the evening for its potential recruits. To the best of our knowledge, our programs are clean as a whistle.

As a final thought, if the Big East came a calling, UD would kill to join us!

Maybe Nova never gave Carolina the trophy.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And I agree with the proposal to swap DePaul for Loyola.  All in favor?

Absolutely not.  Congrats to Loyola for making the dance.  But, as others have pointed out, the last time they made it was 1985.  Since that time, our favorite Big East punching bag has made the tournament the following years: 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 2000, 2004.

I totally get it - DePaul sucks pretty hard and has for a while.  I'd still rather have them than Loyola.  I still hold some hope that DePaul will eventually get its crap together.  I need to see more from Loyola before I'd be in favor the the swap.

Eventually, it will be.  The 2017 title will inevitably be vacated.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

It will be interesting to see where the Ramblers are seeded.  They are already getting some love from Seth Greenberg et al as a 5 - 12 upset pick in the bracket.

You wont be raiding the A10, but the A10 might raid you -- if you're that fortunate. The A10 is stability in a sea of chaos.

I might make that my signature.

Also, with a few breaks we could be up to 12 Catholic schools in the dance this year.   It would require ND and MU each making a run.

Iona punched in last night.

I wonder what the record for Catholic teams dancing is?
