Looking ahead to Nova...
« on: January 25, 2018, 05:16:42 PM »
I know many are very pessimistic, especially in light of last night's beatdown.  But this very same MU team played that very same X team at the BC a coupla weeks back, and we were with them shot for shot until very late.  In fact, we were tied 80-80 and our best player (Markus) missed two straight shots.  Bottom line, we were extremely competitive.

My point: if we play Saturday like we did at home against X, we could win or at least have a solid shot.  Booth's injury gives them a very short bench, so any sort of foul trouble could easily put Nova in a bind.

Keep the faith.  This team has its issues, but when we put it all together we are capable of competing at a very high level.  Let's rock the BC!

Nova is incredible.  Even without Booth.  I would be shocked if we gave them a real scare.

We are not the type of team that puts other teams into foul trouble consistently, so I’d be surprised if that were the case on Sunday.

I think we will play well but ultimately lose by about 10.

People seem to be forgetting the game would not have been close had Cain not gone off from the corner 3. X let him shoot it and he drilled those shots. Aside from Elliott's 3 in garbage time MU wouldve lost that game by 7.
While I want MU to win, I dont see how we as fans can even hope for a victory after the beatdown last night. It was not just about the points, X beat us nearly in every aspect of the game.

We have to take the golf match play approach to the Villanova game. Forget about the last hole ( I am deleting my DVR of the X game) and focus on winning this one.

We need all three of the Big 3 healthy and contributing to win this one.

We gave Seton Hall a beat down a few games ago and beat them in every aspect of the game.  I don't see how any MU fans could even fathom a loss after that.

Both your argument and the argument above are equally flawed. We have what?  20 games to judge our team by?  Why would you focus on one of the two worst performances out of 20?

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Agree, let's not focus on one or two games but the total body of work. So based on that where do we end up this year?

We are going to finish 3rd in the Big East and make it to the second weekend  of the tournament.

I hope you are correct but I do not see it based on the season results to date.  For me if we finish 10-8  it will be close to a miracle. With no real point guard, no D, short up front and  guards often without a handle with no real enforcer under the basket and I say ouch. Hauser is the real glue on this team. He gets hurt and it is over.  Hey, we all have opinions and yours is as good as anyone else's. I just disagree.

The only reason he’s ever said it is so he can bash Wojo when they don’t finish in the top 3 in the BE and make the S16.
