Great piece in The Athletic about Jimmy -- specifically how much better off the Sixers would be if they had prioritized him instead of Harris and Simmons, but also about what makes Jimmy a great NBA player.

https://theathletic.com/3309738/2022/05/13/jimmy-butler-heat-bucks-celtics/?source=weeklyemail&campaign=602288

This really says it all about our Marquette stud:

“I think he’s one of the ultimate competitors in this profession,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “I think a lot of things get lost in translation. And I think as this league sometimes gets younger, I think it ends up being about some things that are not about winning. He competes on both ends. He is an extremely efficient offensive player. And when his only focus is just about driving a team to win, all the other things just are irrelevant.”

Dwindling numbers of MU alum still alive for a ring in the NBA this year. Jimmy (Mia) and Juan (GSW) have the best chances. Had hopes for Jae going in but they don't look good at the time of this entry.
Sam is with the Celts, but he doesn't count in my book.

Not sure if this was mentioned in another thread, but Darryl has recently worked out with the Warriors and Pistons, Kuath has worked out with Memphis and Milwaukee.

Jamal Cain has worked out with the hawks

That is all good news

The guy who writes The Athletic's daily morning digest, which summarizes all the big sports stories, this morning referred to our guy as Jimmy freaking Butler.

At the 1:08:30 mark Tracy McGrady talks his favorite player in the league today.  Spoiler alert. It's Jimmy Butler. Pretty cool to hear a Hall of Famer with words like that about JFB.

On another note Juan Anderson and Sam Hauser have both played in all 3 finals games thus far (garbage time) but still cool. Hauser made a 3 towards end of game 2

Congratulations to Juan . He achieved his life long dream to be a member of an NBA Championship team.  Great representative of MU.

Both Juan and Sam Dekker left school after 2015.  Wild to think about who has had a better career

Actally, Dekker has played in almost 3 times as many games over more seasons than Juan and his #s are also better than Juan.

Except that even some Hall of Famers don't have a ring.

Congrats to Juan on an incredible achievement. His career has been remarkable since leaving MU. Extra emphasis on “since leaving MU” because he was a pretty big disappointment on the basketball court when he played here.

Sure, but what does that have to do with individual comparisons. Not like Juan was a major contributor to GS’s success.

So he still was part of a championship team. Most players rather have a championship than anything else. I bet Dekker would, not easy getting a ring. Besides I'm sure Juan os very valuable in practice and it looked like he enjoyed the ride.
