Best breakfast burrito in Wisconsin maybe.  But the best breakfast burrito in Wisconsin is still the worst breakfast burrito in Texas.

I'm sorry, but how is this not racist?  Is it because the Mexican ex-pats who live in Wisconsin aren't as "Mexican" as the ones living in Texas?  Is it because Mexican culture isn't important anywhere other than in Texas?  Is it because cultural appropriation is ok as long as your state borders the country?

And don't try the "we just make it better down here BS..." food culture in Texas is easily bottom five in the US and can be summed up in one sentence: "make the plate bigger and slather a bunch of sauce on it."
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

I've lived about equal amounts of time in Chicago and in Texas.  Mexican food in Chicago >>> Mexican food in Texas, i.e. Tex-Mex, i.e., dump chili powder into food and call it a cuisine.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

Don't they consider fried chicken tenders in College Station a food group?

Tex Mex and Mexican is not the same thing. Tex Mex is crap. But the Mexican food in Texas is sublime.

They do. Its mostly because everyone is obsessed with Layne's because it is Aggie owned and operated. I'm one of the few who realizes that Layne's has dried out chicken and ore ida fries that they buy in bulk from HEB. Cane's is far superior.

Back in the day before internet etc, we used to go the printers to set the prospectuses up. It would be an all night thing. The printers in Texas would bring in some tremendous BBQ. The brisket was superb.
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Sonoran salsa  is available at Albrecht's Sentry in Delafield and the Waukesha farmers market saturdays through October. By the way, you can find authentic great tasting mexican food in just about every state, not just Texas. Sorry TAMU.

Yep. Pretty much anywhere you can find Mexicans who know how to cook and feel like opening a restaurant.

You can find it anywhere. You have to look a lot harder the further you get away from the border.

If you are talking about Tex Mex, I agree with you. Most overrated food genre IMHO. But there are some great food joints down here if you know where to look, especially the BBQ.

My favorite description of Tex Mex came from my buddy Al, who is a 2nd generation Mexican immigrant from the San Antonio area. He told me that Tex Mex came about when Mexicans realized that they could charge white people $30 for a plate of strip steak and some tortillas.

NM

After a long day of golfing yesterday, I was starved and thinking about this thread, so I had a Bourbon Bacon and Brisket sandwich.  It looked good, smelled good and tasted good, but felt like a brick in my stomach for about 4 hours.

Back to roast beef in a year when I stop again.

No, I'm in Waukesha county but I lost two stores to sendiks, they didn't keep my product, it seems they want their own label.
