I have had two drinks this year.  7 in 24.  6 in 23.  Two the night of the win over X in Milwaukee.  Luv ya, BC77.  Too many prescriptions that warn against drinking too much, so I don't.

But, prior to the prescriptions, 10 years ago,  my alcohol consumption had already dropped to 2 drinks a month or so.  It has been 20+ years since my last hangover.

I loved beer.  I left it behind.

That is one Hell of an increase. In any case...glad to see it. I enjoy an occasional beer or glass of wine and drank more when I was much younger, but not heavily. I'm very happy now with being a very light drinker but have no plans to eliminate alcohol altogether.

I'm at about 2 beers per month and one glass of wine per month. I buy individual bottles of beer at Trader Joe's rather than a six pack of one kind. My wife, always a very light drinker before, decided to not drink at all about 4-5 years ago.

I personally can't imagine drinking one or two drinks a day.

Yup. I have days in which I drink 1-2 beers, but I rarely drink 7-14 beers in any week, and I never drink 30-60 beers in a month. I also just about never drink at home, and certainly not alone. Not criticizing those who do, but I'm the definition of a moderate social drinker.

Don't think you can cut back that much?

Quote from: The Sultan on August 14, 2025, 12:30:38 PMI know a fair number of people who used to drink, but don't anymore largely for health reasons. The reason could mean anything from caloric intake to "I can't sleep when I drink."

I also don't think it's in isolation from the other link I posted above that people are working out more as well. People are living healthier lifestyles.
This is me right there.  One stiff cocktail (Manhattan, martini, etc.) is my limit if I want to be able to sleep.

Went down a wormhole today and discovered that there really was a dude named Archibald "Moonlight" Graham from Chisholm, MN who played one game in the majors, never got to bat, and became a beloved town doctor.

I came across this yesterday on Facebook and it gave me an idea for a fundraiser. When Marquette assembles the swag that they give the team each year, they should auction or raffle a complete set. This is a nice package (and personally, I'd probably prefer the golf shirts to a lot of what MBB gets), but I suspect the MBB package is significantly bigger.

That would explain why obesity keeps increasing :o

Perhaps I could believe that "healthy people are living healthier lifestyles"

Not only am I going to refer to the article that MUDPT posted, but point out that you are making the mistake that all obese people are fully in control of their situation.

https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2024/p0912-adult-obesity.html

"Obesity is a complex disease. There's a common misconception that obesity is a result of lack of willpower and individual failings to eat well and exercise," said Ruth Petersen, MD, director of CDC's Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity. "Many factors contribute to obesity like genes, certain medications, poor sleep, gut microbiome, stress, access to affordable food, safe places to be active, and access to health care. Understanding these factors helps us identify potential prevention and treatment strategies."

Because you are doubting that people are living healthier lifestyles based on rising obesity rates.

I'm good with the 224. Just need a late-in-life growth spurt to reach the 6'3".

Actually, I'm 6'1'+ and about 193. Need to drop about 10 pounds.
