NEW YORK (AP) — The leaders of a sex-focused women's wellness company that promoted "orgasmic meditation" have been convicted of federal forced labor charges.

A Brooklyn jury on Monday found Nicole Daedone, founder of OneTaste Inc., and Rachel Cherwitz, the California-based company's former sales director, guilty after deliberating for less than two days following a five-week trial. The two each face up to 20 years in prison when sentenced later.

Prosecutors had argued the two women ran a yearslong scheme that groomed adherents — many of them victims of sexual trauma — to do their bidding.

They said Daedone, 57, of New York, and Cherwitz, 44, of California, used economic, sexual and psychological abuse, intimidation and indoctrination to force OneTaste members into sexual acts they found uncomfortable or repulsive, such as having sex with prospective investors or clients.

The two told followers the questionable acts were necessary in order to obtain "freedom" and "enlightenment" and demonstrate their commitment to the organization's principles.

Prosecutors said OneTaste leaders also didn't pay promised earnings to the members-turned-workers and even forced some of them to take out new credit cards to continue taking the company's courses.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis' athletic department has been put on probation for two years and fined $30,000
by the NCAA after an investigation found an academic counselor paid two softball players to help a men's basketball player with schoolwork.
The NCAA announced the mutually agreed-to punishment Wednesday, saying in a report that former Memphis academic counselor Leslie Brooks paid two unidentified softball players a total of $550 to provide test answers and complete assignments for an unidentified basketball player during a period from Jan. 25 to Feb. 18, 2024.

While wearing an MU baseball cap at the Anchorage zoo today, I saw two gentlemen sitting on a bench.  The younger, a late 30-something, was wearing a Green Bay jacket.  The elder, a septuagenarian looking fellow, was wearing a Wisconsin Badger windbreaker.   Smirking, I approached them with the intent of making small talk.  They muttered something to each other and then pointedly, blatantly ignored me.

I walked away chuckling.

OMG, I don't know why, MU82s response to Towers story triggered a memory. 

Back 20 years ago, the company I worked for hired a new VP to run my division.  I learned he was from Wisconsin so I figured I'd introduce myself.  I welcomed him as a Marquette grad.  His astonishing reply, "I wanted to go to Marquette and couldn't afford it so I went to Wisconsin.". He didn't want to chat much after that.  I was the Manufacturing Engineer on one the biggest projects in company history.  He was an absolute dick to everyone and he seemed to go out his way to be extra dickish to me.  I was probably the lowest person on the multi cross discipline project team loaded with managers because bodies were needed it was so big. Any issue per him was my fault.  Turns out corporate thought he was a dick too and was sorry they hired him.  After 9-10 months they sent someone from with a title higher than the new VP and the Wisconsin graduate was gone before hitting 11 months.  The whole division exhaled.

Anchorage farmers market, walked up to a guy in Sparty paraphernalia and said 'go green'.  He gave the obligatory and customary 'go white'.
I was of course wearing my MU hat and apologized for sending them Joey.  He laughed and said that I should apologize.  And that when MSU sent MU Crean, at least MU got a final 4 out of the deal.  I said Crean's superpower was recruiting Wade. We laughed and parted friends.
