I had a bowl of Twinkies cereal this morning.

6/10.  No creme filling.

Twinkies cereal without creme filling is like hot dogs without rat poop.

Best version of Desperado - Eagles or Ronstadt?

I love Linda Ronstadt’s voice and think she did a great job, but somehow the Eagles version just sounds right to me.

Eagles

Ixnay.  The Eagles version is way overplayed - although not as much as "Hotel California", possibly the most overplayed song in the history of radio.
Have some patience, FFS.

I almost always like the person who wrote the song’s version best. And Henley’s is really good. But Ronstadt knocks it out of the park.

Nah - that would be Someone Like You by Adele.

Hotel California is extremely underrated as a stripper song.

I could see (only in my imagination, of course) how it would work.

Check back with me in 40 years and let me know if that song is played as often as Hotel California is now.

I listen to Hotel California every time for the guitar fade out.

I’m talking about plays per week or month during its peak. If you want to go with most overplayed of all time based on total plays, something like “Hey Jude“ would blow “Hotel California“ out of the water.

Shifting the music conversation, what is your choice for best cover of all time?

In my opinion, “All Along the Watchtower“ by Hendrix wins by a country mile.

Would definitely agree with that with a couple others in the running:

Johnny Cash- Hurt
The Clash- I fought the law
Elton John- Pinball Wizard
Joan Jett- I love Rock N Roll
Maigh Eo for Sam

Too many great covers to name 1.
"Respect" by Aretha Franklin
"Take Me to the River" by Talking Heads
"Twist and Shout" by The Beatles
"With a Little Help From My Friends" by Joe Cocker
"Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" by Stevie Ray Vaughn
"Angel From Montgomery" by Bonnie Raitt
"Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley
"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by Devo
"Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
"Me and Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin

Oof. I mean I love Elton John, but I'm not sure about this.

Anyway, I would also vote for "Respect" by Aretha Franklin.  "Sea of Love" by the Honeydrippers.  And "Pretty Woman" by Van Halen if only because Roy Orbison didn't have the "Intruder" intro.   :)

But yeah "All Along the Watchtower" wins in a landslide.

In all fairness I like The Who's version way more. I just think Elton John did a great cover

Cash's Hurt is an excellent answer.
Elton's Wizard isn't very good.
I Love Rock N Roll isn't very good no matter who the artist.

No, that would definitely be "Drops of Jupiter" by Train.  At its peak, I would change the radio station when I heard it play, only to discover that the new radio station was also playing it.
