If your toilet seat isn't a soft-closer, you don't know what you are missing.

Korean toilet seats are the best.  Adjustable seat temperature, water spray cleaning (selectable for male and female anatomy) and warm air drying.  Hard to go back to TP after using one.

Dude.  No jet of water is going to clean my bunghole.

The seat temp takes care of itself after a few seconds.

can't just get the basic wash man, ya gotta go for some gusto when washing those nether regions-
can never go wrong with the blue coral, rain-X and rust inhibitors.  if none of those can help ya out, you'll need the old fashioned way, maybe SOS pads

So I asked my high school senior to rank the 8 colleges he applied to.

Unfortunately Marquette was number 7.  However,  ND was number 8.
Not sure whether to be disappointed or proud.

Care to share his favorites?  My daughter is in the same process.  Unfortunately, Marquette isn't even on her list.  But, then again, neither is ND.  I haven't asked for a full ranking, but Purdue is a clear No. 1.  Unfortunately, the program she applied to is extremely competitive, so we don't know if she'll get in.  We'll hear next week.  If she doesn't get in, she'll need to rank the others.

UVA and William and Mary are at the top.   Princeton Penn and Chicago are in the middle.

He applied to Marquette to pacify me.   So far he has only heard from Marquette.

Great schools. No shame in MU being behind the lot of them. Good luck to your son.

I will.  She's not aiming as high as your son, and I wish him luck.  Those are great schools.

My daughter applied to Purdue, Indiana, Ohio State, Miami (Ohio), Syracuse, Fordham, Dayton and John Carroll.  We're waiting on Purdue, OSU and Syracuse.  Thankfully, she's in everywhere else, so she's going to have options.

I visited Purdue, and after the visit never applied.

I remember hearing horror stories about sending out dozens of applications. My process was so easy. Sent out three, found out for all of them by December.

Never completely understood why kids some apply to 10 or more.

My advice, through visits try to get a feel for large v. medium/small, distant v. driveable, public v. private.  Once you can honestly answer those questions for yourself, you've made a real good start.

No doubt we all hope they'll be happy in their choice.  Best of luck.

Same here.  Mostly that is because she wants to be on one of the coasts, but also I think she doesn't want to follow in her parents footsteps.

Question about kids applying to a dozen schools .. I know it's easy for them to send that unified (?) application to a bunch of schools .. but how is it for financial aid?

I guess the question is:  Can a student easily get XX college answers plus the financial costs of each?

To an extent, it could be like Tinder.  Swipe right (?) on everyone and wait to see who digs you, go from there.

I think financial aid was easier than applications.  Even though my kid used the common app all the schools other than Marquette required additional essays and/or information.

For financial aid there was the FAFSA and one additional thing to fill out.  A couple schools want a copy of my tax returns.  I did the financial stuff for him and it took less than an hour.
