Next MUBB Eurotrip?
« on: July 26, 2017, 07:56:41 AM »
What was the rule with this again? Are we able to go on another tour next year or is it still a couple years away?

This would've been a team that really would've benefited from a foreign trip in my opinion

5 years between minimum bags.  My recollection is that essentially prevents taking a kid twice.

Ok so it won't be doable again till sam and Marcus are going into senior year right?

I believe it depends greatly on Tomas Bilder's (sp?) availability.

And there's no saying that Wojo will think it appropriate.  Remember, these things cost real money bags.  This year they get to go to Maui, an expensive trip.

I don't think Buzz ever took advantage of this.  I think Crean did, but went to Canada, if memory serves correctly.

One of the big reasons we went a few years ago was because of the youth and inexperience we had on the squad.  I don't foresee that being an issue for us for the next couple of years.

NCAA says once every 4 years.

I believe this may have also been a carrot to the Ellenson Bros...I do foresee that continuing to be an attractive thing to dangle in front of a recruit or galvanize a team expected to make a deep run.

The NCAA, I believe, changed the date that team practices are allowed to two weeks earlier. So, these trips may not be as valuable.   I believe these trips were mostly about allowing more practice time for the team.

I'm not sure if this makes a big difference or not to all coaches, but I'd assume some coaches don't therefore value that extra couple of weeks of team games/practices in summer.

NCAA Rules re: Foreign Tours --

Bylaw 17.29.1.3

-An institution shall not engage in a foreign tour more than once every four years per sport.

-In basketball, a student-athlete shall not participate in more than one foreign tour for a particular institution.

IOW, four years between tours for the school, and anyone on the Otule plan has to stay behind for the second trip.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Which preseason tourney are they playing in next year?

Agreed. I'd prefer Queensland for the sake of getting Froling to play in front of his family...and so I can hang out on the beaches north of Cairns when I go watch them play.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

How is Michigan's football team going to France in 2018 after going to Italy this year? Is that not the same thing?

Chris Otule could have went three times.

Jim Harbaugh makes the rules.  Or, causes them to be made.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

You can have practices anywhere you want.  The bylaws on foreign tours pertain only to competitive events.

No way... have you ever seen Aussie Rules Football?  That's the way they play basketball there too.  Full contact.  We'd come back with 5-7 season ending injuries.  Aussie basketball is brutal.  Much better to do the euro-cupcake tour again.

Don't know if our guys would make it through the handshake line:

Although, it'd totally be worth if the referee did this every time Rowsey drained a 3
