It is definitely not too much to ask.  It is unfortunately, too much to expect.

You mean Ners in creepy stalker mode.     And thanks.    Are you going to road trip to the game.    It is in your backyard.

If I get tix in the MU section from MU, I'll go. I've put in my request.

The reason I want to go is to share a great experience with like-minded people. If I have to buy tickets from a scalper and sit in the nosebleed section nowhere near fellow MU fans, it's not worth the late-night drive back.

If the game were in any of the other 3 time slots, I probably would go regardless and take a chance on tickets. But driving back after midnight when I'm dead tired ... I'm only willing to do that if I know I'm going to have MU seats.

If I decide to stay home, I'll get together with some of my fellow Marquetters and we'll watch on a big-screen TV.

You can always buy nosebleed seats and eventually get to the MU section.  I have done that numerous times.  Lots of empty seats for that second game.

I could. But I doubt I will. If I know in advance I'll be sitting with fellow Warriors, I'm in. If not, I'll watch with fellow Warriors here in Charlotte. I'm all about the camaraderie, baby!

Perceived internet anonymity combined with impulsive behavior leads to a fair amount of knee jerk negativity.

Marquette has met my expectations of making NCAA's this year, as well as being a top tier league team.

Long term I expect MU to be an almost annual NCAA team, things happen once in a while. I also expect frequent top tier league finishes. I also expect once every several years to compete for league title. I would like to see 2nd weekend NCAA results mixed in every so many years. And once every long while I hope for more. I also expect MU to be competitive non-conference and with perceived rivals.

The results so far this year are ahead of schedule for me considering the circumstances.

I hope of course to win every game possible, but, I would like to believe I have excited, positive, but fair expectations.

But again this is the internet and I know some people, for perhaps reasons I do not understand can and will say bad things that they might not say in person, just because they think they can get away with it.

GoldenDieners32

Marquette exceeded my expectations i expected them to make the nit and maybe a play in game in the NCAA. It's been a good year lets make it even better and get some wins here

Nevermind those coaching decisions recruiting successes that led us to the "best offensive team in MU history."

You're so predictable.

Fixed.  Kudos to Stan for landing Howard and Reinhardt.  Kudos to Wojo for Hauser and Rowsey.  Recruiting is as important as coaching.  Yet when you have a prolific, Top 5 offense, built on the backs of out of this world shooters - is it not reasonable to expect an NCAA bid?  A step further, would you expect a prolific, talented, Top 5 offensive team to lose 12 games and be a bubble team?

Been a fun and expectations met year for sure, yet not going to annoint Wojo as the next Coach K (just yet.)  But, this is progress.

DUNKS45

I hoped MU would make the tourney this year but I had my doubts, that said I'm  extremely happy for this team,  Wojo and our fan base. Now let's make it even better by beating SC and then playing Duke. I'd love to see coach K vs Wojo.

First off, we're 7th offensively. Not top 5.

Also, Oklahoma State (20-12, 10 seed) is number 1 offensively. Wake Forest (19-13, play in game) is 8th. So frankly, bubble teams that are strong offensive teams weak defensively clearly aren't uncommon.

GB Warrior

I would love to make the S16 and upset Duke and all of the great storylines that go with it. Realistically, we have a great opportunity to win a tough road game against a rugged team in the other USC. That is a successful tourney trip.

I hope they then hold their own for awhile against a superior Duke team and head into this offseason will all of the confidence that the best is still to come.

Goose

There is ZERO chance that I will be frustrated, annoyed, pissed or any other negative emotion if MU loses on Friday night or Sunday. I got 99% of my frustration out about three weeks ago and all is good here. Hope they do well and surprise some folks. If not, life goes on.

GooooMarquette

Great post Tower.

This season has been successful regardless of what happens on Friday.  The talent level is high, Wojo's coaching is steadily improving, and the team has been exciting to watch.  Like a couple of others here, I think MU will win Friday and will be bummed if we don't...but there is no way a loss would ruin my appreciation of the season, and the overall positive direction of the program.

GO MARQUETTE!

T-Bone

I was hoping the thread would be:

"...can Marquette celebrate the 100th year of hoops and 40th anniversary of our national championship with another championship.  Please!"

But, I agree with all the sane points here.  If you can't cheer the Warriors when they struggle and when they're down, take your negativity somewhere else.  I'll remain here celebrating our successes - no matter how small they seem in the great history which continues to be written, and our players - no matter what percentage they're shooting.
I'm like a turtle, sometimes I get run over by a semi.

So predictable.

Also, a little Monday morning quarterbacking, as you didn't know we had a prolific offense prior to the season, so expectations of a NCAA bid or not can be debated.

Here is what happens after the Duke vs. Troy game as their fans head out of their seats. Pay $5 for their ticket stub to sit down low before they leave. In Louisville, I had Kentucky fans offer me $20 after the Murray St game to move down. Crazy

That said, I think you will get them.

I think what a great experience our group to have playing against Duke.  I can just see  Coach K after the game hand shake line stopping and talking to some our players.

We, along with OK State and Wake are definitely the outliers in the Top 10 offensive teams with regard to our seed/win-loss record.  Here are the other 7:

Nova 1 seed
UCLA 3 seed
UNC 1 seed
Michigan 7 seed
Duke 2 seed
Kansas 1 seed
Gonzaga 1 seed

So, all 4, Number 1 seeds rank in Top 10 Offense.  And then a 2 and 3 seed as well.  The good news, of course is that our offense is elite, and right up there with the blue bloods of college basketball and this NCAA tourney.  That's progress.

Not necessarily related but I found something interesting. 25/25 of the top 25 offenses per KenPom made the tournament. But 7/25 of the top 25 defenses were left at home. So defense might win championships, but apparently offense gets you the bid.
